S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Dan Stephens for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
[E]xperience
I visited a Christian coffee house often after school when I was in middle school. A man that worked there graciously shared the good news of Christ with me. That evening I knelt before my bed and asked Jesus to come into my life, asking Him to forgive me of my sin, thanking Him for what he did on the cross to purchase my salvation, and asking Him to give me the power to live for Him and His glory for the rest of my life. A couple weeks after that I was baptized. It was 1975 when I became a Christian.
First Baptist Church, Floresville, TX, 1990-1997, Minister of Music and Youth
Oak Ridge Baptist Church, San Antonio, TX, 1988-1990, Part-Time Minister of Music
West Side Baptist Church, Wichita Falls, TX, 1987-1988, Minister of Music and Youth
Marrying Leslie in 1984. She’s a rock for me, encourages me, and helps me maintain balance in my life. Thanks to God, we’re joined by a strong bond of love.
Two mission trips to the Yucatan Peninsula, where I assisted in medical mission work, by serving in a pastoral role, including evangelism and counseling.
The mentorship of my college choir director, John Silantien. When I direct a choir, I still see how much he imparted his knowledge and skill to me, and am grateful for his enormous influence.
Being a choir director in a San Antonio middle school for two years of my life. Although I was equipped to teach musically, I was not good at establishing discipline in the class room. This job caused much stress in my life.
Served with an insecure senior pastor for 6 years in a prior church. I felt like I was walking on egg shells most of the time, and did my best to hold my frustration inside, for the sake of the church.
When my brother died at the age of 35 from a rare blood disorder, there was a tremendous void in my life for some time. I expressed my frustration with God for allowing his death to happen. But it certainly helped me in relating to others who’ve lost loved ones.
