This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
In a teaching or Bible study environment, if their is no opportunity for repentance, and a Gospel invitation, I feel like I have done an injustice – especially in the justice system where I serve

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have always enjoyed being in the ‘teacher’ position. From training new hires, to teaching history of the PC/Apple, to teaching a message where I volunteer.

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
“Heartbreak” is the word that comes to mind. I see people who are needy or hurting regularly, and the truth many times I overlook. However, there are times when I hurt and want to reach out and help, even by just smiling and saying ‘hi’. I have humbled myself to ask for leniency for someone very close to me.

[H]eart

1. Helping to plan an event (concert, telecast), then watching it come together. Bringing talent, venue, food, video, and seeing participants enjoy themselves.

2. Teaching a lesson/sermon/Bible study, especially when subject matter is pertinent to audience. When an audience seems uninterested and in-moved, I can take it personally.

3. Serving alongside my wife, or watching my wife as she explores ministry and service roles.

Serving in the justice system has exposed me to a wide variety of ethnicities, spiritual development and experiences, and age levels. I enjoy working with team members who share a vision, and are willing to come under authority – one of my peeves is rule bending/breaking. I enjoy working with folks who have ideas and share ideas, and are open to feedback. I enjoy working with people who will offer me honest feedback. In my ministry role I serve primarily teenage men who are incarcerated, and I really enjoy that challenge!

This ‘Fresh Expressions’ and ‘Dinner Church’ movement is awesome! The idea of reaching the unchurched, and those who may never walk through the doors of a traditional church is exciting. Planting/starting a non-traditional church is exciting. The safety and care for the young people – the most vulnerable – in our community is a concern, especially in light of the recent news about school shootings, bullying, and teen suicide. Nobody should have to live in fear. At school, a student should not have to be concerned about acts of violence.

[E]xperience

I grew up in a home where we went to church, well, religiously. As a child I felt called to ministry; as a teenager, at a revival meeting I accepted an invitation to begin a personal relationship with Jesus – that was at the Nazarene church in Ohio. After high school and into college and career life, I wandered, and it wasn’t until coming to Grace Church in Cape Coral, that I took one step toward God and He ran out to meet me! It’s funny, as a teen I felt called to youth ministry. Now, at the age of 51, I am doing just that – ministering to youth.

Grove City Church of the Nazarene: Teen Bible Quizzing; Teen Impact Team (music ministry)

Grace Church: Third Saturday Operational Team; Greeter; GLS Volunteer Team; Fall Festival.

Grace Church/Bay Hope Church: JFJ/Steadfast Ministries Team Leader.

US Army Reserve service (although I didn’t see it as a good impact at the time)

Leaving Ohio and moving to Cape Coral, Florida in 2001,where I met my lovely and talented wife.

In college, working as a student teacher at a small elementary school.

Getting married, and divorced very young – knowing my son spent a lot of his youth without his father present.

Dealing with depression.
