S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Debbie Leonard for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Serving (93%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am much better behind the scenes. I am just learning the bible myself and do not feel equiped to be a spokesperson. I love helping with kids and older adults. I have a grand daughter that has Downs so the disabled is dear to my heart.

#2 Gift, Mercy Showing (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I hear so many stories of people taking the wrong road and see the heartaches that it causes families. I know we have a bad drug problem in our community and homelessness and mental health are some of the other issues. I’m not sure where I could help with any of these things but I am willing to be of service.

#3 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (59%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am the monther of 4 childrens and grandmother to 6 grandchildren. I see what encourgament to someone who is either down or unsure of themselves can do. People need to see someone is in their corner no matter what.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. My familiy. I love when we are all together. I love seeing them accomplish things in their lives and make a difference in the people they interact with.

2. Learning and trying to understand the bible. This is a journey I am just beginning to take and when something I read is explained and it makes sense to me that brings me joy.

3. Getting and keeping things organinzed.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Kids and elderly. I can relate to these age groups better I think. Most of the elderly people in my family are gone already and miss that interaction and insight. Kids because I have had them always in my life since I was twenty and am comfortable with them and understand that kids will be kids and embrace that.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I am new to this church so I’m not really sure what is there. I like the church so I guess whatever it needs to keep it being succesful and growing

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I started listening to christian radio about 18 months ago. I came up on the station just randomly and got interested in what they were saying. So after about 8 months I got saved in my car listening to a preacher out of Kernersville. I started looking around for a church in my community and I visited a few until I found this one. If felt right, I liked the mix of people and they seemed to be really engaged. It has been a slow journey for me but a very uplifting and humble one.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

My mother was a christian and i wish i had paid more attention to her beliefs before she passed away

Raising my kids – the best experiences in my life involve my kids. Seeing things through their eyes and wanting the best for them has helped me see love, fairness, forgiveness, and joy.

Grandparents showing patience and love no matter what you did.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Death of my father. No really a negative experience because he was saved, but very difficult for me because if faith could move a mountain he wouldn’t have died when he did. I was mad at God for a long time until a few years ago when one of my co workers told me that sometimes your prayers are answered – he did heal my daddy just not the way I wanted it to happen. I had never thought of it that way and it did help me heal and grow.

My first husband cheated and left me with two small children. It was a hard time in my life, but I have used it to help other women know how strong they are and the things they can do when they have to.
