I taught for 19 years and was a school counselor for 16. It comes easy for me but I don’t have a burning desire anymore.

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Working around our property and building furniture in my woodshop.

2. Seeing my children grow into successful and caring adults.

3. Praying for others and especially for my children and those I know who are struggling physically.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Most all. Probably not older adults. Kind of sounds funny coming from someone who is soon to be 67.

I am at a point where getting excited about becoming involved or leading doesn’t happen that easily. At my previous church I led three ministries and lost the passion after a while. They became jobs not joys.

My current vocation:

Retired but just beginning to establish a furniture building web site. Half of all profits will be donated to Neighbors of Hope.

I taught high school social studies and speech and led counseling groups and did classroom guidance.

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up gong to church and was baptized at age 12. During high school and college I wandered. In my first marriage we did not attend church and my two older boys struggle with that. When I met Joni we started going to church regularly and became involved with the church. My faith grew. Ironically, when Joni died my faith grew we more because God was the only person I wanted to talk to.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

All these were at Grace Point
Led mission trips to Honduras to build churches. We sent a team for 8 years and I attended 6 of those trips.

I was lead of the church missions committee. Probably a total of 4 – 5 years.

I was in charge of “Cash for Trash”. After races at MIS we cleaned the south half of the infield. that became a real chore because the volunteer numbers dwindled each year.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Being married to Joni for 25 years and losing her in 2014.

Finding Rhonie.

Raising four wonderful kids.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Being married to Joni for 25 years and losing her in 2014.

Losing my brother in 1981 when he was 28 years old.

After having spinal fusion 20 (?) years ago, I feel for those who are struggling physically.
