S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Donna Bragdon for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Evangelism (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love being a friend to non-believers and sharing my faith with them. Friendships with non-believers does not mean conforming to them or being above them but talking and listening; living life with them and sharing God’s word, walking in His ways and being who you state you are – be Christ to the world

#2 Gift, Serving (59%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I like to help others – I am willing to set up/clean up, be the behind the scenes person. Yes, I like some recognition but that’s not my focus – I want to do what I can to help others. I like serving on ministry teams, being a part of activities that help the church. The difficulty is not taking away from my family who may not feel the same way as I do.

#3 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (46%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I like to bring light to another’s day. If I see someone is down, I want to put on a smile on their face – let them know they are not alone and ask if they need a listening or ear. I want others to see there is always hope, as God promises us in Jeremiah 29:11 – in our darkest, God is carrying us.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Being alone – reading, listening to music, or laying on a beach. I recharge with God when I’m alone.

2. Being with family and friends – loving on each other, encouraging each other and learning/helping each other

3. Serving God

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I enjoy working with young adults – those striving to change their perspective of the world. They have been raised in a world of hurt and negativity – I want them to know joy and life.
I love to work in marriage ministries.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I am a HUGE supporter of women deacons and women in the pastorate/ministry. This has been my calling and passion for year. It hurts to see women who are called to minister but treated as 2nd class to men and it is not biblical. They do the same work or more yet, they do not receive the same recognition or treatment. Women have been called by God and they should be allowed to serve.
I also believe we need a women’s pastor
I would like to see classes offered on marriage enrichment – not conferences that occur occasionally but a class focused on this. It is needed in today’s world to combat the death of marriage. Our church should talk on fitness/food/health.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was 7 and raised in a believing home/family – the teacher was discussing the parable of the lost coin, the lost lamb, and the prodigal son and I realized I was list and needed Christ. I asked Christ in my heart and was baptized but no one taught me how to live in Christ and grow in Christ. It was when I was a teenager, I realized I was purposefully walking away from God and not with God. I rededicated my life at that time and learned to have a quiet time, pray, study His word and grow in Him.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Youth Minister Intern – Woodway Baptist Church, Waco, TX – 9 months
Youth Council – Woodway Baptist Church, Waco, TX – 2 years

Youth Minister Intern – Sugar Land First Baptist Church, Sugar Land, TX – 3 months

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

My maternal grandfather telling me to keep God first in my life and in my marriage. If we will focus on Him and make Him the center, everything else will fall into place

My paternal grandfather confirming my call to the ministry and a church friend re-confirming that years later. My grandfather shared his testimony of women in his life and how they served and encouraged me to do the same. My aunt, his daughter – shared her testimony of being called as a deacon and how God used her.

Seeing my grandmothers and my mother studying the word of God openly and willing to share their knowledge with me.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Marrying a man who has been hurt mentally and carrying that hurt in our marriage. With the struggles I face each day, I have a heart to help others strengthen themselves and their marriages.

Being hurt by pornography/lust of the eyes when it was brought into my marriage and wanting others to see the lie this sin carries – it is not a secret sin but one that destroys everything in it’s path. I have compassion for those who suffer with this sin or with the sin of adultery.

Abortion and the hurt and regrets it brings. My heart hurts for those who face this decision and they lies they are told.
