#1 Gift, Serving (84%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I do have a heart of compassion for people. I love coming alongside those who are in leadership to assist in anyway that seems best. I usually prefer to not be in charge, but when necessary, I can step up. When I feel comfortable in a group, I am quick to jump in and help out wherever I can.

#2 Gift, Teaching (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I’m not the best at verbal communication, particularly in front of large groups. I can do it, but I don’t particularly enjoy it. I do love writing. I feel that I communicate well through that medium. I also love to convey truth through singing and worship. And in a small group setting, I love to talk about the things we are learning together.

#3 Gift, Giving (53%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
We have never been super well off financially, but we have we have willingly shared with people and ministries around us. I do believe that what we have is to be stewarded well and used for the benefit of others.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love to sing and harmonize. When I can put that together with worship for God, it brings me the greatest joy and fulfillment. I sing in a competitive Barbershop chorus. I love the challenge of it. But nothing compares to quality singing that is directed towards the Lord.

2. I love my family. Spending time with my kids and my two grandchildren are one of my favourite things to do. They truly are the joy of my life along with my husband, of course!

3. I have discovered through my work with Master’s College and seminary, but I am good at office work and behind-the-scenes administration. I can lead when I have to, but I find the most joy in Supporting others who are doing the leading in ways that God has gifted me personally.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I don’t know if I have a favourite age or type of person to work with. I love young children. I love older teenagers, and adults. I love adults and seniors. I think it’s more the type of interaction and the size of the group that will determine how much I enjoy the work.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Singing is such a passion for me, and it is one of the strongest ways that I feel God speaks to me. When I can share that passion together with others and worship to God, I believe that is my sweet spot. I don’t need to lead it I just want to be a part of it.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I became a Christian as a young child of about five years old with my mother at home. I have pursued the Lord pretty consistently for all of my life. I am very blessed and grateful for my heritage and for what the Lord has done in my heart Over the years.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Administrative Assistant at Master’s College and seminary from 2009 to present

Worship team member at Church on the Hill in Cobourg, Ontario (2018-2023)

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Growing up as a pastors kid, and then as a missionary kid has Given me a clear understanding of life in ministry and the importance of a steady commitment to the Lord, regardless of circumstances.

As a teenager, I was encouraged to use the musical giftings that God had given me in our local church setting in Brazil. I was part of a group of young people who loved the Lord and longed to draw close to him.

I can recall several distinct times at the altar when in prayer and surrender, I dedicated my life to following wherever the Lord Jesus would lead me. Despite my naturally introverted personality, I felt that the Lord wanted me to use exactly who I was to serve him. It took me a long time to learn that I didn’t have to be like everyone else in ministry leadership in order to be effective for him.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

I have been through a lot of change in my life, particularly internationally. I don’t particularly enjoy change, but having been through so much of it I have a tender spot in my heart for immigrants to Canada who are trying to adjust to this new culture.

My husband, Mark, and I have been missionaries for many years in both Brazil and in Mozambique. Not all of our experiences were easy in ministry. Sometimes working in partnership with others is very challenging. It has taught us so much about dealing with interpersonal struggles and about endurance in trials.

Despite all of our efforts as parents, one of the biggest challenges we have faced is that neither of our three children are currently serving the Lord. It breaks my heart to see them walking away, so dear. Life is not as black-and-white as we want, thought it was. There is so much challenge involved in raising a family in our modern culture. We are committed to loving our children and their families and being a strong spiritual influence on them and on our grandchildren. We are praying with great intensity to see God breakthrough. We have a soft spot for parents who are struggling with their own prodigals.
