S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Stuart Ryder for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Teaching (62%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have been an involved Christian for most of my life. This has given me an opportunity to listen to many people who are much smarter than I am, with many different viewpoints on many different topics. I enjoy taking these viewpoints and engaging in an open discussion on how God would have us act in the world.

#2 Gift, Giving (50%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Giving and serving were equal on my quiz, and I would agree with that. To me, they are very similar. Giving of time, talent, and treasure are all something that God requests of us.

#3 Gift, Serving (50%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Since time is something I have very little of, it is the most precious gift I can give.

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Spending time with my family

2. Singing

3. Spending time outdoors

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

People who are genuinely interested in learning. I don’t enjoy large group teaching because there usually are people who don’t care about what we are learning about, but small groups are great. I enjoy spending time with folks that are my own age the most, but I don’t mind working with kids.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Music and community service.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I’ve been one for all my life. I grew up with an amazing set of Christian parents who instructed me in the basics and set me up in situations where I could learn and make my own decisions as to what I truly believed. I’ve had some amazing mentors and friends over the years that have helped me grow in the belief that Christ is, and always has been, my Lord, Savior, and Guide.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Kanakuk summer camp – Christian sports camp that truly immerses you in how to be a Christian in your everyday life

Small group bible study in college – learned a lot about who I am and what I believe

youth group as a high schooler – had a wonderful mentor who helped me by his example as a Godly man

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Most recent church. Have been there for over 10 years. Found out that a Sunday School teacher was not treating our son well, which was the last impetus to leave. Since leaving, not one person has asked us where we went or why we left. Quite sad.

Have seen many people in the past use the Bible to browbeat others or shame them. This isn’t a good way to win believers to Christ. Saying “You must believe as I do or you will burn” has an offputting effect, to put it mildly.

Was part of a church league softball team at another church. Discovered that if the people around me are acting in a non-Christian way (ie yelling at the ump, cursing), that I have a tendency to start acting that way as well. The company we keep does affect our attitudes and actions. I have tried to surround myself with Christian friends who have the same moral attitudes that I want to display to the rest of the world.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. To live my life such that people ask what is different about him. I don’t need to yell or scream the gospel from the top of the mountain – I want people to just see it when they look at me and my actions.

4. Sing every week in church

5. Eliminate food insecurity in Kansas City. People shouldn’t have to worry about where their next meal comes from.
