S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Ellie Colon for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Teaching (96%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Many people that I have taught or explained ideas to have confirmed that I am able to break down difficult concepts into manageable pieces for learners to digest, and that I have the ability to make it relatable or interesting.

#2 Gift, Prophecy (87%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Not sure how this survey defines “prophecy”, but I have been known to tell others honestly about repenting from sin and to challenge other Christians on their beliefs and actions. Ever since I was a child, I felt I had a sort of ‘psychic sense’, like an ability to sense or predict the future and to sense that motivations, emotions, and thoughts of others. My father told me this was a gifting in prophesy and discernment. I now have learned that a very strong part of my personality if strategic thinking, the ability to spot patterns and to plan effectively to achieve goals. Maybe that is what was actually being expressed when I believed I was predicting the future. I’m also very intuitive and sensitive and tend to “absorb” the emotions of those around me, and to be able to recall Scriptures that speaks to people’s situations. Therefore, when I speak into other people’s lives, they often feel like I am “prophesying” to them, or speaking to them in a deeper or more intimate way than usual, I guess.

#3 Gift, Administration (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Strategy, organization, finding patterns and solutions, noticing details have always come natural. I also tend to get frustrated when things are not working right, and I am not a laid back person, so I can’t be content until I try my best to fix things. (Especially systems, flow, etc.) I don’t actually enjoy being an “administrator,” as that role generally sucks the life out of me and can quickly become routine and boring. But I always score high on “administration” due to strength in strategy. I would be more fulfilled in a role where I could organize and consult for an organizations or event-planning. I don’t actually enjoy executing the administrative tasks, I’m more of a planner and ideas person. But I usually end up administrating and I can do that well.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Engaging with culture and art in theory (academic reading, museums, concerts) and in practice (creative writing, poetry, singing & playing instruments, painting, etc)

2. Creativity and performance: Delivering a teaching, performing a song, reciting a poem, participating in a modern dance, etc. Especially when I am able to share unique material that I have created.

3. Nature: Reading a book under the shade of a large tree, floating in the ocean, riding my bike or jogging on a trail, hiking a mountain, etc. Being out doors in the middle of somewhere rustic and beautiful.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Creative, intellectual types of people who enjoy reading books and discussing ideas. Also kids between ages of 5 – 10 years old. Co-Ed and mixed-age groups.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Spiritual recovery from psychological and addiction issues (Celebrate Recovery, Stephen’s Ministry, etc); Also praise and worship (music, flow of worship service, skits/special numbers) especially harmonization of the service. I enjoy being part of the planning process. It irritates me when an event has a proposed theme, and little in the event actually addresses the theme (including the speaker’s message). It also irritates me when someone preaches, and the worship team songs a response song that has nothing to do with the topic of the message. Coherence on a practical level.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Married my wonderful husband who is the perfect match that God ordained for me in every way.

Graduated from college & masters degree- having the privilege of Ivy-league level education and multiple experience traveling & studying abroad through school

Grew up as a pastor’s daughter with a close and comforting relationship with my dad, who brought continual joy, purpose, and meaning into my life throughout childhood.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Was emotionally and physically abused by my mom throughout childhood & adolescence.

Endured multiple instances of sexual abuse in early childhood and as a young adult, culminating in an 8 – year addiction and destructive romantic relationship with a narcissist.

Was stabbed in the back multiple times by close female friends that I trusted who I naively considered “best friends” because they were envious of me and the favor that God showed me.
