S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Brian Rigdon for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

[H]eart
1. Worship – singing, praying and playing in the congregation, small groups or privately is the activity that most deeply resonates with my heart.
2. Coaching – guiding people in their lives, whether spiritual, job-oriented or personal. I love having an impact in people’s lives. Teaching is part of this.
3. Being with people. I love being with people.
Probably my kids’ age range: 15-30. Though I have friends and enjoy people of all ages.
Right now my burden is for new believers and people who are needing spiritual nourishment.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.
Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
[E]xperience
At the age of 10, I asked my father why my brother went forward. He explained our need for forgiveness and salvation. I knew I needed Jesus in my heart as Savior.
Mountain Valley Church Worship leader ’92-01 and ’10-16
Mountain Valley Church Youth leader, ’97-01 and 02-08(?)
Mountain Valley Church Associate Pastor ’99-’01
Being called to ministry at age 19. My calling was specifically worship, but God has used me in so many more ways than that.
Obeying God when instructed to propose to Missie – and the family God has given us.
Coaching youth soccer for way too many years. Great opportunities to interact with families and show God’s love.
Losing my ministries in 2001 and in 2016 (youth, worship, associate pastor). Burnout caused me to resign from all church positions in 2001. In 2016 I was dismissed from worship and the small group I was leading disintegrated.
Losing my brother. I don’t know how God will use this in my life, but I’m certain I’ll be ministering through it quite a bit.
A major project I was leading at work collapsed. I ended up changing careers because of this – good thing SNL has many career paths.
Wrapping It Up
The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?
1. My Relationship with GOD
2. My Relationship with Others
- Putting Your Spouse First
- Your Kids Second
- Everyone Else After those
3. Write devotional books and Christ-centered fiction
4. Write rock-opera musicals for Easter and Christmas. No – seriously.
5. This is hard – the majority of dreams I’ve had in the past were all self-aggrandizing or would fade to nothing. I’ve stopped dreaming.
