S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Emily Warren for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Teaching (87%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy sharing with others the peace and hope that I experience when I grow in understanding who God is and how he has designed us and all of creation in relation to himself. For most of my life I have had a love of language and communication, and people tell me that the ways I communicate my thoughts about Biblical truths have helped them to see God and/or themselves more clearly or in a new light.

#2 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I often think that we are sometimes best at doing for others the things we most need ourselves. I have felt deep discouragement and brokenness in my life and find healing and joy in being real about those thing with others. It is a unique and powerful way to experience God’s mercy when someone acknowledges that doubt and pain are valid and, if you let God into those places he will reveal himself in special and personal ways, both to the person hurting and the person encouraging them. People tell me that I have a way of making them feel able to openly be themselves and pause to have meaningful conversations about their emotional and spiritual journeys.

#3 Gift, Serving (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am a team player and love to demonstrate care, respect and common purpose through service. Service (especially when it is appreciated) helps me to tangiblly feel the invisible connections of community.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Deep conversations in which both I and the other person feel loved, appreciated and personally understood, being free to pose questions without the pressure to have all of the answers.

2. Singing!!!! In the car, in the kitchen, on a stage, alone, but especially with others!

3. Sharing things with others that I find beautiful and sharing why is beautiful to me, whether its introducing them to a band or song, a film or book, a place or a painting. Sharing beauty = connection!

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Artistic/expressive/esthetic people; Educated/articulate people; young children (10 & under, but especially toddlers);

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Worship (music, arts); Integration of singles into church community; Equipping/spiritual formation

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in a Christian home & accepted Christ at age 8, but it was during my late teens & early 20’s that I really developed a strong & personal faith while dealing with depression & experiencing several different denominations/approaches to Christian faith & community.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Small Group Leader (Park Church, Denver, 7 yrs)

International & domestic missions & missions support role (YWAM, Northern Ireland & Lebanon, 1 yr; National Prayer Breakfast, Wash., DC, 3 yrs)

Hospitality ministry (Downing House , Denver, 2 yrs)

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

YWAM Discipleship Training School

Artistic performances (choirs, acting classes, Young Life’s Broadway to Africa)

Park Church Small Group ca. 2012 (being part of an “us”)

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Lifelong struggles with depression & body issues

Lack of occupational/vocational direction while having a deep desire to matter/make an impact

Being very committed & involved in a church that experienced a divisive conflict/split

Wrapping It Up

  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Write a book or collection of shorter writings

4. Marriage (& maybe kids)

5. Regularly perform (singing or acting) pieces that break down peoples’ barriers to God
