S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Gena Wyrick for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Administration (93%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am a “doer” and not much of a follower. I jump in and get the job done.

#2 Gift, Giving (87%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
God has always blessed me with a job. Even when I have lost my jobs in the past, he has always provided other opportunities and has helped me grow from all these opportunities and provided for me financially. I was taught from an early age that our wages we receive do not belong to us….they belong to God and that tithing back to God is our way of showing our appreciation of what he provides to us.

#3 Gift, Serving (84%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have led several large outreach programs in various churches we have attended over the years…Thanksgiving turkey dinner outreaches, Christmas outreaches, etc. and this is my passion to help serve the people that are hurting and just need that extra help.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Helping others…I am currently taking care of an elderly family member. This has taken a lot of time for me that last four years.

2. Animals…I love taking care of animals. We recently lost one of our dogs that we had had for 16 years. Has left a huge hole in our hearts.

3.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I love to work with young people and the elderly.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I think the church needs to continue to reach out to the community and stay involved in as much outreaches as possible.

I recently retired (Feb. 2020) and am still trying to figure out this retirement thing.

Other jobs I have experience in:

I spent 40 years in the corporate world. Mainly in supportive/operations roles with General Motors and General Electric.

Special talents/skills that I have:

I consider myself to have very good organizational skills and a “can do” attitude.

I have taught a class or seminar on:

I feel my most valuable personal asset is:

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was raised in the Church of Christ all of my life. My whole family are members of the Church of Christ. My great grandmother was the backbone of our family. She passed away when I was 18 years old. I had not accepted the Lord yet and been baptized. But one Sunday I had gone to church with a friend of mine at her church and the Holy Spirit just told me it was time. So immediately I contacted my minister and was baptized that following week. The time was just right. I wanted to be reunited with her in Heaven some day.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

West Side Church of Christ – grew up in this church all my life

Community Christian Church in Hamilton – attended there for about 10 years and led outreach programs there

Immanuel Baptist – Hamilton – attended there four years…led Operation Christmas Shoebox there

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

I always had great family/friends that encouraged me throughout my college career and upon graduation helped me get my first corporate position with General Motors. I don’t think that without his help in obtaining that first position with GM, that I would not have had the positions with the other companies that I would have had.

I lost my mother to cancer with I was 39 years old. I was devastated as you can imagine. Being an only child her and I were very close. This may not sound like a positive experience, but I came to realize that I had to do some growing up real fast as I had a 13 year old son that now needed me twice as much. I can explain more on a one on one basis.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

I am an only child. I grew up in a home with two parents that loved me to the moon and back. But my parents’ relationship was not always the best. A lot of screaming and yelling and tension. I always told myself if I married and had a family that would not happen in our household….and it didn’t.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. 1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. To be able to help a friend more than I am right now that is struggling

4. To seek out more volunteer opportunities

5.
