Thank you Lynn Ghormley for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

[H]eart
1. Playing with or being with the grandkids. Camping, puzzles, games, dog walking, all these things are fun for me.
2. Fly fishing. I grew up outdooors and love the outdoors and fly fishing is a natural fit for that.
3. Once in awhile Curt and I do a project together. Not the kind we usually do where a job needs done and he does his part and I do my part to get it accomlished, but actually working together. Cutting firewood at the farm for instance where we are both working at the same thing at the same time, that’s fulfilling to me.
Adults or young adults who are interested in but don’t know much about the Bible, especially those who have questions.
Doctrinal accuracy is a big one for me. It’s so easy to stray and difficult to keep to righteousness.
Abortion/sanctity of Life
Spiritual laziness
Policy/politics

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace
Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
[E]xperience
At age 11 my family moved to Colorado, soon after I started going to a small, local Bible church and heard the “invitation” every Sunday. One Sunday day after weeks of hearing the gospel message I responded by going forward and asking Jesus inot my heart.
I taught 3rd grade SS at Arvada Christian church in Arvada, Colorado while I was in High School
I directed the choir at the Benton United Methodist Church for 30 years
I’ve taught SS for every age K-12 at TBC, formerly BUMC
In the summer after my 8th grade year I went on a backpacking trip that my Jr. high school counselor directed. I would say that that has had the biggest impact on my entire life. I learned that I could accomplish difficult things that I had no idea I was capable of. It also gave me a tremendous love for the outdoors.
My band director in college, during my senior year took a particular interest in me and mentored me, teaching me how to become a teacher.
I was loosely affiliated with the Navigators in college. The “Navs” as we called it, taught me how to hear, read, study, memorize and meditate on the Bible. The Navs sent me on a trjectory of lifelong study of the Bible. Oh, and I also met my husband through the Navs.
I grew up in very modest means, that is, we were poor. I have compassion for and try to be extra friendly to those who work in menial jobs because of that.
My high school was very progressive. Indeed, many of the teachers came from the university of Colorado which was just 20 miles down the road. I was kicked out of biology class because of my belief in creationism, was taught existentialism in English class, which I think is a major contributor to my depressive episodes and was specifically taught that abortion was not wrong. Since all truth is God’s truth I have compassion and discouragement for those in public school
I am infertile. I have compasion for those going through infertility treatment bc it is so undignifying.
Wrapping It Up
The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?
1. My Relationship with GOD
2. My Relationship with Others
- Putting Your Spouse First
- Your Kids Second
- Everyone Else After those
3. Create a Chrsitian school for poor kids.
4. Build an education wing and sanctuary (worship center) at our church and then a Christian school with reduced tuition, exceptional teachers and facilities.
5. Build a big house in Colorado and have women’s retreats and “mountain experiences” there
