S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Gina Menard for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am a public school teacher that has conducted trainings for almost 100 new school district teachers, I have created and organized Special Olympics for a rural county, and have been the ESE Dept. Head for the past 15 years at Emerald Coast Middle School.
I have also taught Sunday School for years, while is Ga. and at Good News. This has included children, youth, and College/Career classes. I was also in charge of WOW (Women of Wisdom), which was the women’s organization at Good News until the Women’s Connection began.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am not able to share my faith much in the public school, but my students are aware that I am a Christian. If they ask me a question, I will answer it. My co-workers also know that I am a Christian and has asked me to pray for them, while they are dealing with something difficult. I do share my faith with others, outside of the school and encourage new neighbors and friends to attend my church.
When new family’s move to my school, I encourage the parents to get their child involved in activities, including youth groups in the church.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Part of my job at the school, is to be an encourager. I have a minor in child psychology and do my best to work with children to find their way. My child’s friends have considered me their word of wisdom and have turned to me when they are dealing with discouraging times. I am a positive person and don’t let others see my sadness, so I can help them. When asked why I can be so positive when I am dealing with issues, my response is always the same, “God will get me through this, just like has has so many times before.”
[H]eart
1. I enjoy my career as a teacher, I love being around my friends at church, and I love being a part of a church family.
2.
3.
I work with children (middle school), but I spend most of my off time with my older friends at Good News that are in the Prime Timer age group. I am the baby of the group.
I am excited about the growth of our church and that Brad reaches all age groups when he presents his messages, each week. I am excited about the choir, but am worried that we will no longer be the dynamic group we were when we had a full time director.
I am concerned that the elder generation is kind of ignored and that Sunday School is never mentioned as a small group when the direction of the church is small groups. Most visitors have no idea that we have Sunday School classes, unless we invite them ourselves.

[A]bilities
A public school teacher, who has been teaching all levels of special education for the past 36 years.
I worked at K-Mart while attending college.
Singing has always been my passion. I grew up singing in the children’s, youth, and the adult choirs. I also am funny and has written my own skits or plays that have been seen at Good News.
Other than Sunday School or Wednesday night youth, I haven’t taught anything else in the church setting. My experiences teaching adults and children, has been in the public school system here and in Ga.
I feel my most valuable personal asset is that I have a way of communicating with people, that keeps them calm and makes them supportive. This is a skill, I need, to be able to work with the parents of my students or other teachers instead of making them angry. I am also a good listener.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.
Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
[E]xperience
I was raised in a Christian home with a father who has been a Baptist Deacon for as long as I can remember. He has always been the best christian example in my life. He has been a Sunday School teacher, visited nursing homes and hospitals, and even started the prison ministry in Columbus, Ga. where I am from. I was saved and baptized when I was 9 years old. I have always been involved in church up to this day. In my life, the option of attending church doesn’t exist, unless I am sick. Even when I go home to Ga. to visit my father, I am in church with him.
Fairview Baptist Church- Columbus, Ga. – Vacation Bible School teacher, Sunday School teacher, Choir member, and chaperone for the youth on trips.
Good News- Worked with children and youth, taught children Sunday School, sing in church choir, leader of the women’s group, worked as a group leader in Vacation Bible School, chaperoned youth trips, and organize several Prime Timer monthly events.
I have also read the verses for the 1st service and helped with communion.
Going with my father when he helped with Meal-on-Wheels, spending time with the youth dept. (as a youth) helping elderly people around their homes, and being able to share my testimony about how how God saved me from an abusive 1st husband.
Growing up with a mother who had a different relationship with my older siblings was very hard. Post Pardom Depression wasn’t discussed in the 60s, so I grew up not feeling like my mother loved me and that I could never please her. I have a new understanding now and look forward to seeing her again in heaven. She passed away from Cancer when I was 35.
Another experience was being told by my band director when I was in 5th grade, that I would never be able to play the flute, but I practiced harder and played the flute until the end of 11th grade. I was also band president.
Another time I experienced a negative time was during my 1st marriage. I was verbally and physically abused and my husband almost killed me, at the end of our 6 year marriage. I know God stopped him from chocking me and now I am able to share my story and explain why some women don’t leave.
Wrapping It Up
The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?
1. My Relationship with GOD
2. My Relationship with Others
- Putting Your Spouse First
- Your Kids Second
- Everyone Else After those
3. I am single, so I would like to have a partner in Christ in my life that could be a positive role model for my son. Other than my father, he hasn’t had one.
4. I would love to be able to provide food and school supplies for students in the area. Many of them have families that don’t supply the necessities needed to focus on their education.
5. I would like to furnish transportation for my students that would like to participate in after school activities, but can’t because their parents work and have no way to pick them up, afterwards.
