1. Cooking for others because they appreciate it and I like providing for others. I like making things for them and making them feel special and appreciated as well.
2. Teaching, so that I can help/encourage others in what they are capable of, even if they don’t think so initially.
3. Writing/Coaching for student drama opportunities in a church setting. It is so rewarding to see kids discover their gifts and talents and how they can use them to glorify God.
Grades 3-6, mostly. But, I’ve worked with kids of all ages, K-12.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
[E]xperience
The guy I was dating (who is now my husband) was a Christian. I was not. He invited me to church, asked me good (but hard) questions about my faith. I started going to church. I filled out a visitor card and had some folks from the church come to my apartment to talk with me a few days later. My boyfriend at the time knew they were going to visit me. He was with a group of friends from his church praying that I would give my life to Christ during the visit. I did in fact give my life to Christ that night (3/11/97). I can share in more detail if anyone is interested.
Winston-Salem First (w/ HS Students ,1 year prior to moving to GR), Vineyard (Community Engagement 1.5 years), GR First (Children’s Ministries – 17 yrs – nursery/kids church/drama) and Oakhill (VBS, Sunday School, Youth Group 6-12, 2 yrs)
Having a boyfriend, who became my husband to challenge me, support me and pray for/with me from the very beginning of our relationship. Known each other 26 years, going on 27 years of marriage.
Ed and Janice Alfing were two small group leaders who were on fire for God. They were such nurturing and supportive strong Christians who helped me understand the importance of being in the Word, doing a Bible studies and memorizing scripture.
Being a parent (kids ages 21 and 16) and being a teacher for 27 years and having such an important role in impacting the lives of children keeps you grounded, focused and in check. Knowing your words and actions are always being observed helps to keep you humble and makes you want to be a better person and to be a godly person. Neither is a role to take lightly. It is a tremendous honor and blessing to be a parent and a teacher.
Having dysfunctional parents.
Having to care for aging, ill parents who lived in NC while I was living in MI. All the while, trying to work, care for my husband and children, myself and my dying parents.
Going through unexpected, major life changes in a short period of time.
