Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace
Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
[E]xperience
I grew up going to church once in a while, but Jesus was never talked about at home. We were certainly not a Christ-centered family. In High School, I followed a friend to her youth group. She didn’t invite me, but from an early age I had known there was more to God that I knew, and I had to find out. I soaked everything in for months until it all clicked. When I was 18, right before I left for college, I realized I was a lost sinner in need of Jesus. In college I joined a well-known campus ministry. I was “on fire”. Turns out, they weren’t so on fire for me, and one day the campus pastor told me “God will never use somebody like you”. I was devasted. I didn’t have anywhere to turn to and eventually I wandered away. Fast forward another 30 years, a bout with depression and an attempted suicide and Jesus met me in the middle of my mess. And this time I found more than a religion with rules, I found a Savior with grace. This time I found out how to let Jesus be the Lord of my life. And this time around, I found I do have a purpose.
I serve in Children’s ministry, women’s ministry, disaster relief ministry. All in Austin, Texas. I also currently serve with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
I volunteer in an aftershool program for some really underpriveleged kids. A good number of them also have additional challenges like physical, emotional, and learning disabilities. I’ve been with this program for five years now. These kids have so little materially, but they have the biggest hearts. On my very first day they had me sit with a young boy in second grade and told me nothing about him beside his name. As we started to work on his homework, things were okay for about five minutes. But then he got to a math problem he couldn’t immediately figure out, and he had a total meltdown. He began to cry, then climbed under the table and hit himself in the face and called himself stupid for tne next 15 minutes. But I just sat next to him and silently prayed. I couldn’t run away or leave him. This scene repeated itself for the better part of a year.
Well, he has aged out of our program, but last spring he came up to me on the playground and gave me a hug. THat by itself was mind blowing. But then he proceeded to tell me how well he was doing in school, and that he had grown to love it. And he was now planning to go to college to be an engineer.
I always think of that little boy and how much he has accomplished by hard work.
I have dealt with depression and anxiety for a number of years. Praise God I no longer deal with that at all. But I know what it’s like to be sinking deep and feeling like you can’t grab ahold of anything and you can’t take a breath and nobody sees how badly you’re really sinking. I have come out the other side so I can testify it’s possible, but I can walk through it with anybody and relate to the weight they carry.
I have been the victim of an attempted robbery and all I can say is, as horrifying as it was, God was so incredibly faithful through it all and through the healing process that people still ask how I got over it as well as I did! I may not meet somebody in the same circumstance exactly, but fear is fear. It’s crippling and iti tells you not to move, that you can’t trust x-y-z. That you can’t even trust God. The things I have gone through have shown me how so very faithful and true to His promises God is.
This may not be an experience in the truest definition, but I have struggled my whole life with identity. Who am I? And my whole life I’ve been told my worth is based on what I look like and how I perform. So it’s been a battle I have fought to accept that I don’t have any other identity but child of God. Daughter of the King. Co-heir with Christ. And for women that can be especially challenging.
