Thank you Julie Hansen for taking the SHAPE Assessment. [H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Sharing Jesus. Speaking in front of groups. I work at a Christian Retreat so I mostly share with Christians but I love bumping into non-Christians. In fact I used to see it as difficult to share with people who already have the Good News when there are those dying w/o knowledge.

2. I love praying with people one on one and sending messages of encouragement to keep going strong in the faith.

3. My family is the best. I love my husband and our 6 children.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I love babies and adults. All ages are good though. Occasionally we go to nursing homes. We have our 93 mother-in-law living with us. Mostly I like to work with people that want to grow in their faith-no matter the age.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

The Gospel and discipling are the most important…equipping the Body to do the work of ministry…It’s hard to see deception and watered down teaching in the church…and undisciplined sin going rampant w/o correction.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I wasn’t raised a Christian but we started going to church when I was 15. I came from an abusive home and was looking for love in all the wrong places. Even though I felt it was wrong I got into immoral relationships. I got pregnant in my senior year of High School and gave my son up for adoption. This brought me to understand all that I had been learning in church but up to that point had not made sense of or seen how God loved me and was intimately interested in my life. In God’s providence He sent a couple of people in my life during that time which were very instrumental and loving me in the faith as I began to grow.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Silverton Oregon. My husband pastored a little community church for 6.5 years I taught Sunday School, VBS, and Bible Release. We have also worked all our married life at a Christian Retreat.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Sharing Christ with our guests over these many years…speaking at our summer camps and meeting one on one. They are my people.

My husbands father was a Pastor for 25 years and then started our retreat, I was very impacted by him (and his wife). His love for Jesus and people were an inspiration.

Reading amazing biographies of missionaries and people who were sold out for Christ

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Being abused

Being hurt by fellow Christians that were more concerned with looking good…spiritual pride…false humility

Having a couple of my children struggle in their faith has been very difficult

  • Everyone Else After those

3. Sharing Jesus through speaking
