[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love to garden and crafts, like making jewelry. I love to talk about God ANY TIME! A favorite subject. I enjoy taking care of my cats (no longer have dogs). If I was not a nurse, I would take care of animals. I enjoy being married and am always amazed at how God uses that relationship to teach me.

2. Because of my cancer, I have had to retire from Nursing. I absolutely loved my job! I grieved for about 2 years. I am still sad abut not working as a nurse anymore but cancer has really had to be more of a focus. I also lost my financial status and am on disability social security. Big life changes! And because of these changes, they affected how I answered the questions.

3.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I don’t have much experience working with children, despite loving them! I’ve mostly worked with adults and elderly

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I have no idea. Because of my job, I never got involved much with the church. Also, I’m not one to get involved with groups or go to gatherings/parties. I am a strong introvert. I prefer smaller groups or 1:1 scenarios.

*Mark the Top 3 from the list, that Trigger a Passion in You

Educational
Policy/politics
Other – Honestly, not sure how to answer. I’m good with taking care of sick people. Mental illness is not a strength of mine!

[A]bilities

My current vocation:

Retired from hospital, bedside nursing. I am now a full time cancer patient!

Other jobs I have experience in:

Special talents/skills that I have:

I am a joyful person! I’m good at organizing and managing, delegating. Probably because of nursing. I’ve been in leadership positions most of my life. I don’t know why though, because I don’t go looking for them. I’ve always been appointed to them.

I have taught a class or seminar on:

Medical/nursing related topics. Gardening topics

I feel my most valuable personal asset is:

I have a personal relationship with Jesus and because of that, I have a strong sense of self. I have always been a cheerful person who can and has faced many adversities. I don’t know how else to answer this

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I accepted Jesus when I was very young. But didn’t really start growing in the Lord until I was a teenager.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

I was involved in a Singles group for many years. But no real ministries. The Church had a large congregation. Probably over 2,000 people.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

My Christian counselor, Mary. I started seeing her when I was 33yrs old. I would still be seeing her if I had moved to Grove City. I’m 58 now. She has been a HUGE blessing in my life!

My long time friend who helped me through SO many of the hardships in my life. Her and I worked at a christian camp for 3 summers. I was 16, 17, and 18 years of age. Developed great christian relationships.

Being diagnosed with cancer and having this tribulation for the past 11 years! This has impacted my life IMMENSELY! I’ve learned there is so much blessing in suffering. Although my entire life has been one of loss, suffering, tribulations, this cancer experience has helped me grow as a christian. The other stuff was more of surviving.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

My family. Very broken, abusive, alcoholism, my dad committed suicide. I can relate to others going through these things, but I wouldn’t say I have the ability to help them. I have strong opinions about those who just want to be victims of their circumstances. This is a very difficult area to help people with. I have tried and don’t like it.

My divorce. I can relate to others in this situation better. My divorce was just a continuation of my family life. This was a catalyst in seeking professional help. And that is where I really learned about why I do what I do, the choices I make, etc. Mary was so instrumental in getting me to make better decisions. BUT, I also wanted to change. Many of us in these situations, are too afraid or too comfortable in our misery to change. Despite it being miserable! Crazy but true!

I have trust issues, even with God. Because of that, I am reserved and don’t talk about my self much or share my likes or dislikes. Because of that, I don’t talk about God much either. This has always bothered me. My cancer has helped me talk about God more, but I find people don’t want to hear about God, so then I just shut down again. So people who also share this problem with trust or being afraid of what others will think of you or being judged, I can relate to that!
