This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
As someone who was saved at 25 and lived in the world I feel like the Lord can use my testimony to encourage the lost, however I prefer relational evangelism over confrontational. One of the reasons our child is in public school is for the sake of pursuing relationships with the lost.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love encouraging people (with truth) in who/how God made them to be or to come alongside them in prayer and fellowship during times of suffering. I usually do this through spoken or written words.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy discipleship, specifically of women.
[H]eart
1. Seeing people awaken to their need for the Lord/be receptive to the Gospel.
2. The fellowship of the body/corporate worship , especially racially and ethnically diverse groups.
3. Being in the mountains. If you don’t believe in God, go to Colorado and try and convince yourself that that beauty is the result of a cosmic accident 🙂
Women, peers (30s/40s/50s) Both lost and saved.
I believe that predominantly white churches need to be intentionally concerned with the unique hurts and experiences of people of color given our history and remaining racism in our country. It is not enough to say we “welcome” everyone. We (white believers) must show people of color that we genuinely want understand their hurts and experiences that we may otherwise be insulated from. Also not only do we welcome you, but we NEED you. We can learn different things from you. Our picture of Christ is incomplete without you. We don’t just welcome you to worship here but we invite you into positions of leadership and influence because your experiences can give us a fuller understanding of Christ and how to minister to our brothers and sisters in Christ who don’t look like us.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.
Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
[E]xperience
I came to Christ at the age of 25 (in 2001) while attending a large non-denominational church in the suburbs of Washington, DC. I was raised with occasional church attendance but an incomplete understanding of the Gospel and no concept of a personal relationship with Christ. When I started attending McLean Bible Church I was struck by the joy/celebratory atmosphere. I thought, however, thought it was too late for me, a young woman whose lived was marked with seeking her worth in the attention of men and the escapism of binge-drinking/partying/popularity. I took a class on the foundations of the faith where the instructor said, “God loves you where you’re at but loves you too much to keep you there.” I understood in that moment that Jesus loved me enough to die for me and that my life of sin was not a barrier to the Lord’s glorious plan for the remaining years of my life.
