S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Heather Gunn for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Mercy Showing (90%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I’ve been told I’m very empathetic and able to see a situation from different perspectives. We all go through challenges and need grace. Personal conflict gives me anxiety and I much rather work through things and offer/receive forgiveness vs holding grudges.

#2 Gift, Serving (90%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I’m definitely drawn to helping others. That’s what brought me to my line of work. I prefer to not be in the spotlight, though. I’m much more comfortable behind the scenes.

#3 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (56%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Encouraging others is fun 🙂

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Listening to praise/worship music

2. Hiking outdoors and memorizing scripture while walking on the trails.

3. Quality time with friends

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Geriatrics are my people! 🙂
Though I also enjoyed working in the preschool ministry.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Jarrod and I have talked some before on the potential benefit of having counselor couples/individuals to walk through specific challenging times with others. Couples/individuals who have already been through a similar situation. We would have benefited from having access to a couple who had already walked the infertility road when we were going through it. We felt very isolated during that time. I think having support/classes for marriage would be helpful. Marriage is wonderful but hard! Jarrod and I have done a conference through Family Life before and as we’re working more on our marriage it’s a topic that’s been on my heart.

Special talents/skills that I have:

I’m often told that I’m an encourager/mediator/peace maker in groups. I seem to be able to see a situation from multiple perspectives. I’m learning/working on being able to better manage conflict in personal relationships.

I have taught a class or seminar on:

Safe transfers and fall prevention. Ha! That’s for work.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Grew up in the Methodist church and was baptized there but my family stopped attending when my parents divorced (I was in late middle school). Returned to Christ through Christian Campus Fellowship at the University of Georgia and have been walking with Him ever since. I feel like so much of my maturing as a believer has happened at RBC.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

All of my experience is through RBC. I taught the 3/4 year old group for years (pre covid), serve at various roles including guest services table/temperature taking/greeter, and have been involved in various discipleship groups.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Becoming a part of Christian Campus Fellowship at the University of Georgia. That place and those people brought me back on track.

Meeting my best friend (Beth) in college and just experiencing life with her. She is also a strong believer and was when I met her.

Meeting and marrying Jarrod. March 19th this year is 10 years married for us! These three are all connected. I met Jarrod because of Beth and I met Beth because of CCF.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Experiencing divorce first hand as a child

Infertility testing/treatment/surgery that the world would describe as unsuccessful since it didn’t result in a child.

Marriage challenges. Though this could be viewed as a positive because jarrod and I have both definitely grown.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Using my current professional skill set to make homes safer/more adaptable for geriatric population – a variation of my current job without the stress of administration stuff, productivity requirements, and cost

4. Having the luxury of extra time to truly connect with people and encourage their joy/rest

5. More opportunities to travel/serve without financial stress
