Thank you Harvey Gilbert for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Many who were patient, understanding and encouraging to me over my lifetime.

#3 Gift, Evangelism (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
This may, for me, be from my concern and encouragement for many through being
Jesus to others: taught youth Sunday school, coached my brother’s friends, led Fellowship of Chrstian Athletes in junior and senior high school, was chaplain for my fraternity, visited the sick/hospitalized, and prayed with them, and others. Did occasionally verbally share the gospel, but not often. When receiving an FCA award, was able to share my testimony.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Love, appreciate and encourage family. Camping, baseball (playing, coaching, umpiring), public school teacher, youth ministry.

2. Coming along side those who are hurting, in some kind of need (i.e. volunteer youth counselor for those in trouble with the law.) Helping young people through teaching, coaching and leading Christian activities.

3. Being part of a wonderful family and extended family. Travels, re-unions, camping.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Those teaching, counseling, coaching young people. Church and youth leadership. All ages of Christian fellowship participants.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Excite: the close bond of those in shared ministry/teaching of youth. Being associated with committed Christians!

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Parents dropped us boys off at church; solid teaching; loved by teachers and given opportunity to teach; loved Jesus but baseball more; college friend shared Jesus with me; gave up first love (baseball) and trusted Jesus to be first love.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

See above. Taught 6th grade brother’s SS class though not saved.

Fraternity chaplain; Fellowship of Christian Athletes (adult leader as well as high school and middle school leader).

Part time care ministry for our church.
All in Omaha, Nebraska.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

High School varsity baseball player.

Those who counseled me in college, giving me direction for education career. Also, my Boys Scout Scout Master who believed in me and had me become a Patrol leader…eventually resulting in my many leadership roles.

Meeting and marrying my Christian wife.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Low self-esteem, though much loved by my parents.

High school, memory and learning struggles; entered school at age four.
