#2 Gift, Teaching (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love studying the bible – I’m surprised that this came so high because I know from past experience I am not a good teacher /preparing lessons etc. But I love to discuss scriptures in an informal setting.

#3 Gift, Serving (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy helping others – and I have served in various ministries in my walk with the Lord. He has used me most in music ministry (bass player), I was in counseling ministry for a few years ( not my gifting) and worked with a mission organization for a few years.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. what brings me joy is when I can make my wife feel special. ( I’m a work in progress on this)

2. I enjoy playing music for the Lord.

3. I enjoy camping with my wife – away from the pressures of daily living. I can usually block out lots of time to be still before the Lord.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I enjoy working with almost any age group (teen age and above) who are real, down to earth folks. I don’t relate well to little children.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I really enjoyed being in the music ministry in my old church and also tried to get involved in the nursing home ministry. For years I was involved in splitting firewood and delivering it to people who needed it and couldn’t afford to buy it.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

In 1978 a co- worker invited me to a prayer meeting. Over a period of time I gave my life to the Lord and obtained a better understanding of the gospel

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Music Ministry – New Life church (6 mos.) (Haymarket)Community Christian fellowship 17 years New Balitmore), New Covenant church – 1 year (Manassas), Christian Fellowship church 3 years (Spanish church and singles ) Herndon/Ashburn

Financial Director of Y.E.S. – Yielded Evangelical Servants – a non- profit organization serving missionaries ( non-paid position) – 10 years

Worked for 2 years in the counseling ministry at Christian Fellowship Church (Herndon/Ashburn) – not really my gifting.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

My mission trip to Haiti – the people , especially the children, spoke to my heart – my wife and I help support an orphanage down there.

A mission trip to Mexico. When there I found a bass at the church and started messing around with it – I came home bought a bass and have been playing for the Lord ever since – that was 26 years ago

My morning breakfast with my family in Christ. This has been going on for 28 years and though there are only 2 of us meeting now it has been a time of encouragement, teaching, help and comfort as we journey together through life

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

When my first wife left me. I could physically feel the Lord’s arms around me and comfort me. I was able to share that with others so they could trust the Lord in difficult times

When I was n high school – I came home one day and was told the band I use to be I kicked me out. This helps me understand other peoples insecurities and to try to understand their feelings
