S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Janea Baker for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I feel I have always been empathetic to others needs. I have walked through addiction and through that I have contact with others going through various types of addiction. I try to be a positive voice in a very dark time in a person’s life. I want to be there to offer some encouraging words, a hug, or a smile. This has made me more aware of people around me. When you ask if someone is ok, and you can see that they are not. I am not afraid to say, are you really ok. Do you need someone to talk to. I know I can not solve their problem, but I can maybe give them some hope by offering an encouraging word or even just an ear to listen
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I don’t think this is right because when I think of Evangelism I see people out there boldly proclaiming the gospel, sharing the word with non believers, quoting scripture. That is not me at all, I don’t feel. Where my evangelism comes into play in my life is related to my recovery from Alcoholism. I am active in AA, which has been watered down since its founding days. God has been edged out alot and replaced with Higher Power to not offend anyone. Early in recovery I conformed to the higher power thought not wanting to be judged. Then my heart was moved, and I started struggling even saying the word higher power because I don’t have a higher power, I have God. God is who has saved my life from physical and spiritual death my life not a higher power. I spoke with someone in ministry who works actively in the addiction community about my struggle. Through that conversation I realized, am I going to please people or please God. Today, I do not apologize for my belief in God in meetings. I have very good conversations with people in recovery who also believe in God. I can also talk to people who may not know about God but are curious or wanting a change in their live and I can share my story. That God has restored my life and provides me blessings every day. This is after I walked away from a relationship with God and walked through some very dark times.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Having gone through some challenges in life, I have had very good times and very bad times. I know I am not a bad person, just made some very bad decisions. This is where I think my mercy showing comes from. I know I do not want to be judged for my past behavior, because it is not who I am today. I have repented and turned my life around through God’s grace. I don’t want to be judged as what ever label someone wants to put on me. So I carry that to others. I can show mercy to people who most people would not want to associate with, because I want to love on them even for a moment. Maybe that will spark something inside them to give them even an ounce of hope that things can be better in their life. I personally don’t think there are very many people who are just pure evil–I know there are some. I think there are many people who have made bad decisions, sometimes very bad decisions, and if effects their present life. I can provide a message of hope through my life’s challenges and what God has restored me to be today. I have the message of a Savior, that forgives even the unforgivable, provides strength to those who are weak, and mercy to those who do not deserve it.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
[E]xperience
When I was in third grade, I lived in Lubbock TX and there was a church bus that came around our apartment complex for kids. It was Easter Sunday and I got on the bus. I did not know about Easter other than bunnies and candy. That is when I first heard the gospel. I was not raised in a church family. After hearing the Gospel, I always had of feeling of Gods presence but I did not know him. I started going to church with a friend of mine as a teenager but never accepted Christ as my savior. I have lengthy periods of significant spiritual growth and periods of time that I turned away from God. In 2012 I accepted Christ as my savior. That walk has not been even close to perfect, but I try to build my relationship with God everyday.
Sunday School Teacher lower elementary levels K, 1, 2 Zion Lutheran Church 2 years
Celebrate Recovery, Journey Christian Church, I did not actually serve a leadership role, but was active through serving meals helping cook, being a regular reader, helping set up and clean up. Helped organize the national day of recovery that was hosted by Journey. About 2 years 2012-2014
Getting Sober–This has changed my life, changed my relationship with God, and changed my spiritual life
Having Children–This taught me unconditional love and to be there for someone who is completely dependent on you. It is a different kind of love than a spouse, parent, or friend. I think this is also has given me the compassion and empathy to give to others.
Graduating High School–this taught me preserverance and not to give up even when things got hard. I had my first child at 17, the summer between my junior and senior year. When I started “showing” I had a teacher tell me I will never accomplish anything in my life. I have accomplished alot in my life. I may not have a high power job, but my needs are met. I have loving and caring children that are productive members of society, and I am willing to help others in their darkest days.
Being married twice to non believers–Though I had not accepted Christ, I still believed and was not equally yolked therefore had significant issues in the marriages. Today I know without a doubt that I will not form a relationship with someone I am not equally yolked to.
Addiction–Without this I would have probably not heard the gospel. My dad was an alcoholic and my mom sent him to the store for Easter basket stuff the night before, he walked in the home early that morning with a bag of jelly beans. That is when I got on the bus to the church. In my own addiction, It brought me to a deeper relationship with God. I now know that God was with me along my journey just waiting for me to reach out, cry out to Him. He saved me from death, so I am willing to say, God, use me how you see fit. Put me in places I can glorify you.
Wrapping It Up
The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?
1. My Relationship with GOD
2. My Relationship with Others
- Putting Your Spouse First
- Your Kids Second
- Everyone Else After those
3. I would create a young peoples sober meeting place with a dance floor, pool tables, TV’s, coffee house kind of vibe to reach out to young people that either 1. want a fun place to hang out with friends without going to the bar. I would envision it for both young people in sobriety and young people that just want to have fun outside of a bar setting.
4. To go on a missions trip
5. I would take a tour around the county going to different churches, seeing God’s magnificant landscape. See and talk to others around the country about Christ and see in each community how we can help someone.
