This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am a multitask person by nature. Thereby I am able to manage people and projects and stay on task as I enjoy helping /working with others and not overcome by menial or overwhelming task.

Communication is a gift we all share from God. Understanding we all don’t communicate alike. I find myself talking or sharing about my faith with others with such boldness which is partially in part to I have a relational personality and find it easily connected to people. However I believe as Christians we all have a gift of evangelism.

The environment in which I was raised in taught me to always have a heart for others. I make sacrifices for others as I believing in giving, helping and serving which can have its challenges but I am loyal to a fault my friends and family say…

I enjoy working with everyone one but if I had to choose a group to would be the young adults as some would say “Millennials” they have a boldness and desire to understand but the challenge they bring to my generation keeps you on your feet as they not afraid to ask “WHY” and say “NO”.

I am excite about the new direction we are working towards with the Welcome Team. I know we had our challenges in achieving “One Band, One Sound”. However I believe we are on our way of surpassing this deliverable . I say this because we have taken a proactive approach by getting the team involved. Which is the number 1 complaint alongside that has been the lack of training.

[E]xperience

I was five years old sitting at Mt Zion Baptist Church wit my grandmother. When I heard Pastor Davis tell the congregation all the great things God can do and has done for me. He said I was hear because God personally selected me to be here because He loved me and that He gave his only son for me. He asked if we believed God to be real and if I want to get to know Him on a more personally level and if I was ready to serve Him. At that moment I knew I wanted to meet God. My grandmother looked perplex as I begin to get out of my seat and said sit down. I said no I’m going to get to know God. I walked up and said I want to be baptized. Fast forward from a child to adult I have seen time and time again what a life without God looks like.

It wasn’t until I started coming to Zion in 2006 that I begin understanding the importance to serve. I have been serving on the events team for 5 years under the Warden Sheila Varner coming up on 5 years and the welcome team for the past 3 years and volunteering when needed.

I have volunteered for the past 10 years to take care a of elderly relative who lives alone to ensure she has food, her bills are paid and her overall welfare needs are being met on daily basis.

Growing up in a family where God was always discussed inspire of the circumstance.

Being able to see what it means for a husband to love his wife and wife to love her husband as God instructed.

My grandmother had a major impact on my live as she was a my HarrietTubman. She taught me life required navigation, dedication, determination and quitting wasn’t a option. To always get back up and praise the fall just as your praise the rise.

Growing up around alcohol/substance abuse allowed me to see first hand what it does to people and their families. I grew to understand these people weren’t bad people and some were looking for love in a bottle. I grew a sympathetic heart towards them as became very compassionate about helping people within my family suffering with alcohol and substance abuse issues. As I was a child impacted emotionally by the decision of these adults and didn’t want to see my siblings go through it alone.

My mom suffers with seizures. something I wasn’t aware of as child until one day she had a seizure and we were home alone. Not knowing what was going on I panic and called 911 where I had my first introduction and training to seizures. After I learned my mom embarrassment prohibited her from sharing this with me, helped me understand how living with what she classified as a disability had crippled her. I immediately had a desire to want to help her see life and not her condition which is why I don’t see limitations in people.

I found my self in a situation where I know it was God and God alone who saved me. I don’t take life for granted and believe we should use this “Gift of Life” to sow in another daily.
