[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

• I was blessed to grow up in a Christian home
• You wouldn’t have known that I was a Christian
• Because I didn’t really have God in my life, I tried to find purpose other places
• And I really struggled with my image and identity
• I looked for affirmation from friends who didn’t care about me
• Yet I would go to my church and pretend everything was ok
• At one point however, I began to feel convicted of the fact that I was living a double life
• It was a watershed moment where I realized that I didn’t practice the things I said I believed
• I was at a retreat when all of the junk and distractions were gone
• I asked God into my heart, and I decided to get baptized again
• From then on, I was more at peace with who I was
• And to be totally honest, life hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows since then
• There was never a guarantee of that
• There are still times that I have doubts, or feel like I am not good enough, or that I don’t fit in
• But now I know where my identity lies: in God
• Not in others who’s whims and opinions change
I know who I am living for and who to rely on when things get tough

Almost drowned in a rip current at a young age

A friend and I got sideways, so my parents forced me to clear up the relationship when it was very awkward and honestly terrifying.

I happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, which caused me to get in trouble at school.
