Thank you Jennifer Kraemer for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. [H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I enjoy serving in missions work, both overseas and locally. However, due to my geographic distance from the church, my charity involvement has taken place through organizations other than St. John’s (i.e. through my kids’ school or through Richardson area charities)

2. I enjoy planning things–especially long-term projects. I like to develop strategies.

3. Fellowship/discipleship–through small group, Bible studies, youth ministry, etc.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I enjoy working with young adults and children the best (this is my area of greatest expertise).

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Small groups, Bible study, working with St. John’s school, Kellermann Foundation; I’d love to maybe someday start up a book club again like we used to have

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I have never known a time when I did not know Christ. I grew up in a Christian home.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Town North Presbyterian Church, Richardson, Texas (youth-2008): VBS coordinator, secretary of Women in the Church, small group co-leader, Women’s Bible Study discussion leader, youth group helper, Sunday School teacher, choir member

St. John’s Episcopal Church, Dallas, Texas (2009-present): VBS helper, Women’s Bible Study discussion leader, small group co-leader, Sunday School teacher (youth), various helper positions

Richardson High School, Richardson, Texas (2012-present), Theater Booster Club executive board (several positions), Choir Booster Club (several positions), PTA Clothes Closet volunteer (ministry to indigent students), PTA Hospitality Co-Chair (organized teacher appreciation events)

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Rearing four very different children

Traveling internationally for mission work, professionally (speaking at conferences), and for fun.

Finishing my PhD work in the midst of rearing kids, working, and volunteering

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

We had a very traumatic church split from our old church. This really wore me out for church politics and it took a long time for me to want to get involved. The main lesson I learned was not to let things outside of God and the basic gospel message become idols, even if they were “important” things having to do with church ministry.

I left my teaching job at St. John’s school because I was emotionally exhausted by the demands of the job–the parental expectations, the school politics, and the kids (probably because I had kids the same age at home and used up all my patience on my students). The stress related to this job at one point led me to develop shingles before age 40. This experience taught me to place mine and my family’s health above work–even if it is good work.

The most difficult challenge so far has been dealing with a son who is self-medicating with drugs and alcohol, and is probably dealing with depression and anxiety. I have lived with a lot of fear and uncertainty the past three years or so. I have had to lean on Christ in ways that I never had before. This is an ongoing struggle to discern what is the best way to parent this child. I have developed a lot of compassion for those dealing with addiction and for parents of troubled kids.
