S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Jeremiah A Taylor, Jr for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Evangelism (93%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Evangelism must be taught to believers, I don’t believe it’s something that a believer should do haphazardly. I understand that evangelizing is not a choice, God commands us to do so, therefore, I try to be discerning and not miss any opportunity to talk about the Lord

#2 Gift, Pastoring/Shepherding (90%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Well, I’m not so sure about this one; I’ve always been a leader so when I came to Christ spiritual leadership just seemed natural to me. However, that expression, ‘stay in your lane’ applies to me; I’ve led a Men’s Ministry and I don’t shy away from public speaking or gatherings, but know that pastoring or shepherding a flock is not my calling

#3 Gift, Serving (90%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am a deacon so serving is my spiritual middle name! Really, it comes so natural now I don’t think about serving, I just serve people every day. And it feels good to help and serve others, it’s another way of giving and God calls us to be grateful, cheerful givers; givers of our time, resources, our minds, our finances, whatever we have to give that benefits others

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Helping and serving others

2. Encouraging and lifting other’s spirits

3. Driving – I find peace and joy driving, I love to take long road trips, I rarely fly anywhere

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Men of all ages, but now I’d really like to work with young men 12 -early 20’s. At one time in my previous church we had more men than women on the roster- God has appointed the man as the head of the family so it follows that if we get the ‘head’ man’s head right then the family will be right also

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Youth & men’s ministries – excite
Food Pantry – excites and concerns

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was kinda a ‘bad boy’ but, being from Ms. I always was in church. When I came to my senses was in church one Sunday in my 20’s and the spirit told me it was time for a change, went to the altar and gave my life to Him

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Good Success Christian Church & Ministries, Pastor William H. Bennett II, at 4401 Sheriff Rd NE. D.C.- ordained deacon, Chairman of Deacons for over 10 yrs.. co-led Men’s Ministry

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Really getting to know my father. That may sound rather obvious from someone NOT from a broken home but it wasn’t until my late, late teens that I really got to know and appreciate the humble, great man my father was

Traveling – My father was in the Air Force so we traveled all over the world (Japan, Germany, Portugal, Spain); being service brats allowed us to experience different peoples and cultures which helped shape my attitudes towards others

My involvement in sports. I played basketball, football and baseball; sports gave me a very good sense of ‘team’ and working together, you really learn how to get along and co-exist well with all different types of personalities

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

I experienced bullying in elementary/high school

The brutal death of my younger brother

2 divorces
