S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Jeremy McCool for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (81%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love the Word of God and I love people. Encouraging others through tough times and to rely on Christ for everything is about my favorite thing to do. I can spend all day talking with others about the Bible, what it means, what it looks like to trust and obey.

#2 Gift, Teaching (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have been told I am a good teacher. Although I don’t see anything special in myself, I have received great feedback from others when I teach the Bible or biblical truths. I can apparently pull more than most out of a passage and bring context, life and useful examples and analogies to words on a page.

#3 Gift, Evangelism (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I really don’t feel that evangelism is one of my strong suits. I love putting stones in people’s shoes, talking about worldviews, defending Christianity and gaining a better understanding of the beliefs of others, but I am not motivated to preach on street corners or turn every conversation I have toward Christ. I hope that I evangelize by lifestyle – sometimes I doubt this.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Talk about the Bible, God, religion, spirituality, and philosophy with others. As a side note, I love singing about those things too.

2. I love taking complicated things and turning them into smooth processes – project management, I guess.

3. I love watching people’s light bulbs come on when they learn new things or in a new way that clicks with them.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

My favorite people to work with are other committed Christians who have a heart to get things done for the kingdom. Outside of that, I love working with seekers, people of other religions, spiritualists, etc, and I absolutely love working with and being around kids.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Excite: Community outreach, the unification of churches and ministries, mission work, personal discipleship, spiritual growth opportunities, music, children

Concern: I am concerned with churches that preach works instead of grace, ministries that do not provide a safe environment for children, people who see their tithes along with pastoral leadership as an outsourced great commission rather than taking ownership themselves

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Christ was calling me for years and for many years I thought I was a Christian but I was not. Church is not enough, I realized, on the day that He showed the meaning of forgiveness. My fiance had just discovered me involved in an emotional affair with another girl a week before our wedding date. She initially called the wedding off and it destroyed me for hours. I was in a wretched state and was really feeling the impact of my sins and decisions. Then she called back and said that God had told her she should forgive me and still marry me if I recommitted my life to Christ. This I took as an invitation not from her, but from Christ, and I was shocked that she would forgive me for what I had done to her, but far more so that Christ could forgive me for all of the things she did not know about that I had done to Him. I gladly accepted the forgiveness, and it was the first time I had ever felt clean and forgiven in my life. I felt cleanness wash over me like rain shower, and it totally changed my outlook on life and on God. It was an incredible experience. May 17, 2006.
