S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Jess Carver for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. [H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Spending time with family/friends/boyfriend

2. Spending time doing administration/organisation or creating worship spaces and services for everyone

3. Unwinding and relaxing – going for a drive, watching TV, reading a book

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Friends, as we are usually on the same wavelength, mainly around my age, who are also goal centered and organised/have good administration skills, also a willingness to serve amongst our crazy/busy lives

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Excite me – any kids or youth ministry that we have. A concern – the future direction and life of the church as a whole, ie. services, programs etc.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I have grown up in a Christian household and have therefore been coming to church my whole life – and while I ebb and flow between my commitment and faith to God, I feel as though something would be missing if I didn’t have church or my faith in my life.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Sunday kids program (KidsLife) – teacher/helper – approximately 8 years to present.

Fortnightly youth program (JAM – Jesus And Me) – leader – approximately 5 years to present.

School holiday kids program (Day Camp) – leader/coordinator/administrator – approximately 10 years to present.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

My family are constantly a positive experience on my life – their love and support is more than I could ask for.

My churches willingness to have me be involved as a leader in many different programs – I have never experienced an age barrier – people thinking I’m too young.

My boyfriend (Simon) – is always there for me and we support each other in our faith journeys, while still understanding we experience God differently and we are different people and have different personalities.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

A feeling of abandonment by the youth leaders I had in high school – they were constantly there for all of us but almost suddenly stopped being leaders and even though were still at the same church, the sense of relationship had gone.

An experience of bullying throughout years of primary school – given me a lack of confidence, makes me second guess my actions, am constantly rethinking about things I said or did, that I should have done better and has given me a sense of needing to be perfect so nobody can say anything about me.

Constantly being stuck in the cycle of messing up, confessing to God, feeling good but then messing up again – that knowledge of knowing I will always be forgiven by God but manipulating it to my advantage to feel no remorse about actions, or continuing to do them with a justification.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Work in kids/youth/families ministry.

4. Bring others to Christ – evangelism.

5. Step outside my comfort zone in all sorts of different ways.
