S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Jenny Terry for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. [H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Read the Word and grow in knowledge.

2. Help others who are hurting or listen to their concerns.

3. One-on-one Tutoring in life or in school work from elementary to adult.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I love to work with people who are lost or feel like they don’t belong. As a school teacher, I have worked with grades 4-12th and been effective especially one-on-one listening sessions for guidance or seeking counselor. I am very careful not to recommend anything that might not be biblical.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I’ve always wanted to get to know the hearts of others. It’s sad when one goes to church to fellowship, and never moves past a surface greeting.

Special talents/skills that I have:

Listening to others’ problems and loving them despite what others might think they deserve (seems to be a strength of mine among teacher colleagues)

I have taught a class or seminar on:

My strengths as a teacher include teaching art (because the kid’s like it), and growing as a Christian.

I feel my most valuable personal asset is:

I am a great cheerleader and motivator. Kids seem to gravitate towards my room who need to feel like they’re accepted. I am loving teacher (unconditionally) with compassion -seeing others as they want you to see them, not as others show they feel about them.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was alone and in the Word on a trip with only my bible and spent hours praying that God would forgive me for sins I felt were unredeemable. Through this 3 day process, I heard (inaubibly) God speak scripture to me as I looked at the words from my bible. I’ve not been the same since that experience in 2015.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Madison Avenue Church of Christ teaching young students -3 years

Madison Avenue Church of Christ teaching adults aerobics-3 years.

Student FCA (Future Christian Athletes) Member and teach FCA Monday’s for 9th-12th graders

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Hearing from God and being able to act on his living word

Building a Christian climate of peace and joy in my home for the children in my home

Sacrificing my time and money to support a food pantry in my room for the students of Chesapeake High.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Losing a parent to premature death when I was a teen

Wrongly marrying and later divorcing

Being rejected or excluded

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. I would operate programs for students to visit senior citizens and complete community service projects for the elderly in the community.

4. I would financially support those who work low-wage jobs by creating a request-for-need sure and fulfill needs eg new furnishings or appliances for working vehicles

5. Unique counseling for one-on-one prayer supports for concerns others need to share and need support for (many adult teachers come to me asking for prayer).
