As a teacher of 40 years, I feel that I have learned how to identify and attempt to serve the needs in the lives of people.

I have a great passion for people in need. I recognize that I have many limitations, but my heart aches for the oppressed and sick.

My life is much different now that I am retired than when I was raising a family and holding a job. It is so nice to have the time now to do more for others and take part in the Bible studies and be more devoted to the needs of others, especially my Sunday school ladies.

[H]eart

1. I like to feel that I do little things for others, as I see a need or void that I feel I can show love and support for them. This always brings me joy.

2. I love to be with my family, friends, and certainly like to be with the public. That’s why I have a part-time job to be out in town with the people of Fayetteville.

3. My greatest joy is to travel with friends and family. This was a goal of my retirement was to be a tourist.

I have a great love for the ladies in Ms. Jarrett’s Sunday School class. I have been a member of this class for more than half my life, and I feel the devotion we have for each other and for the needs that we care for and help. So I have a great compassion for them and the ladies of FBC, but because of my teaching profession I like the youth programs. I did more with the youth when my own children were involved.

The sick and the elderly of our church. I feel that there are always a need for the Bible study classes, because of a more detailed instruction and interaction with others of the church and community in small groups.

[E]xperience

Attending FBC since 5 years of age and attending many programs were a great influence of my growing up years. At the age of 9, I attended church camp and there I accepted Jesus Christ as Lord of my life. Becoming a Christian meant that I would be an example in school, around friends, and out in the community of my faith and let God control how I conducted my life.

My husband and I have been married for 45 years, and our relationship has been a great blessing. I value our life together and the job of teaching that I enjoyed along our journey.

Being brought up in a Christian home and attending church-related activities made me know that was the important way to raise my own family.

My 2 children and their 9 children have been the greatest blessings and purpose of my life.

The health of our grandson, Caleb, for the 4 years of awaiting a heart transplant has been a very painful and devastating time. This has been so stressful on our family.

The experience of going through Hurricane Irma on the island of St. Maarten and seeing the devastation and experiencing the protection of God until we finally got government evacuation was one of the most stressful times of my life.

When both of my children were in junior high we had a house fire that put us our of our home for nine months. We rented the FBC missionary church house during that time. So God is good all the times we are in need.
