[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was drawn to Jesus by the Holy Spirit. He placed just the right persons, at just the right time, and in just the right way I chose to give my life to Him by prayerfully acknowledging that he is Lord and asking for the forgiveness of my sins. The Holy Spirit indwelt me in a powerful way and continues to point me to Jesus and manifest the power of God’s written word within me today.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

First Baptist Missionary Church in Chapel Hill, TN.

I also attended a Baptist ‘mega’ church in Nashville where there had been much division over how Sunday church services were to be performed and was so large there didn’t seem to be any unity.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Upon giving my life to Jesus 20 years ago, I was drawn by the Holy Spirit to a predominately black denominational Baptist church in the south, outside of Nashville, Tn. This was not an easy thing for me to do initially, I’m not prejudice, but because it was outside of my comfort zone. The Holy Spirit used me there to show their members that God does not see us by the color of our skin and where there is no love, God cannot work.

After moving to California in 2005, I fell away from the church believing I could continue my walk in faith without going to church. That continued for 12 years (when I moved to Maine). I then experienced a horrible life changing event that showed me what my life had become and would be without Jesus. I’ve since understood how imperative it is as a Christian to read God’s word daily, to attend church, and have other Christians in my life that encourage me help me to grow as a Christian, to serve within the body of Christ and others, and always be looking for ways to do God’s will and to learn more about Jesus.

God has allowed me to experience many ‘bad’ things that I can now use in relating to others who have been there and share my experience of how He has transformed my life and can transform theirs too.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

These negative experiences are not something I wish to share without relating them to someone face to face who can benefit from my pain.
