Thank you John S Clarke for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace
Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
[E]xperience
Involved in Anglican Church life as a boy (Altar Server / Choirboy) and through my service in the Royal Navy. Married in Church (Scotland) and my wife and I continued to attend an Episcopal Church until discovering The Vine Church (Dunfermline). Completed Alpha Course in 2004 and Baptised afterwards.
Left industry for a year in 2008 to serve as ‘Executive Manager’ at The Vine Church, Dunfermline, Fife. KY12 9US. Pastor Jimmy Dowds.
My wife and I supported ‘Kids Work’ (aged 6 to 11) at The Vine Church for two years 2006/7
General serving including FRENZY – an Annual Christian Music Festival 2005 – 08 in Edinburgh.
Serving in the Royal Navy (Self Discipline / Organised)
Meeting my Wife (Lesley Clarke)
Visiting Haiti with the charity ‘Compassion’ in 2009
As a Senior Manager within a global defence company, refusing to implement an unethical procedure which was against my Christian values. This subsequently resulted in my departure from the company.
Whilst serving in the Royal Navy on Submarines, we (the crew) survived two potentially ‘catastrophic events’ which I believe were answers to my prayers.
The realisation as a then ‘Workaholic’ that I was unsympathetic and unable to support my wife who was grieving the loss of her Father.
