S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Jeffery DeVale Sparks for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. [H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Explain the concepts of Scripture and Theology in a way that is electric and life-transforming.

2. Build ways to help others (and myself) innovate and organize their lives using tools which might be found from every discipline or even completely disparate fields for the purpose of the wonder and beauty of order.

3. Creating things that bring surprise, delight, and help to people.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Creatives. Ideo design types (to the max).

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

My broken and dysfunctional home found me sent to my simple, but loving, Christian Grandaprents who lead me to the Lord.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Colonial Presbyterian Church, Kansas City, MO.
2013-2018

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Mick Houston recruiting me into LifeWay Christian Stores.

Julie Sparks coming into my life.

Jim West, Panera, 5 years ago, calling me to pick up the calling Christ has on my life through Seminary and ordination.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Leaving home at 17 to get away from the dysfunction and abuse.

Seminary not working out (failing) at Concordia Seminary.

Poverty.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Develop a syndicated teaching ministry as a Pastor who taught and traveled to teach.

4. Go into an impossible community and take a failing church and, by God’s awesome power, transform that into the largest church in the area for people that need hope and healing and growth and leadership.

5. Create and develop an effective and highly-regarded Arts and Tech academy program in an unashamedly Christian-focused space, that would transform the lives of the youth AND their parents.
