I enjoy learning about people who are different from me. I want to know how they think. When I can, it’s exciting to help them see that God’s word is very practical and helpful, whatever your background.

Everything I have is because of God’s blessings. If I give it away, he’ll still care for me. I know I am selfish and do use a lot of my blessings on myself. But I enjoy making a lot and giving a lot.

Teaching and evangelism go together for me. I love teaching because it involves understanding how someone else is thinking and then helping them to open up to another point of view.

[H]eart

1. I love creating or using a picture to illustrate an idea. I am a visual learner and I know most people are to some degree. It’s so memorable. Helping someone learn and remember a concept is very fun for me.

2. I love to help people identify and reach their goals. This is what I do at work but also with my daughters and hopefully at church.

3. I love spending time with Jeff and working together with him.

I love to work with people who also have a heart for evangelism. I love working with people who have different experiences, knowledge and skills from me. It’s exciting to me to see how all the different gifts work together.

I am excited about organizing things at CrossWalk so that the work of the Pastors and staff is easier, and so that it continues to grow.

I got my degree in elementary education and taught second and third grade for 15 years. I also raised five children and made a comfortable home for my family while we were missionaries in Zambia, and also here in Phoenix.

[E]xperience

My parents had me baptized as a baby and I grew up in a Christian home. They were great examples to me of how to love and forgive and depend on God for everything.

Taught Sunday school at our English speaking church in Lusaka.

Taught second and third grade in two different Lutheran schools in the states.

Helped in many different areas of ministry at CrossWalk.

Living in Zambia taught me that my physical circumstances do affect me, but don’t determine my happiness. God always loves me and provides all I need.

I helped care for Jeff’s Mom and my Mom and Dad in their last days. It felt wonderful to be there with them to show them love and remind them that because of Jesus, they would be in heaven forever.

Being married to Jeff is my biggest blessing. Nothing has had more impact on me than my relationship with him.

When Jeff was going through his depression, I felt like I was losing him, like he was becoming a different person. It was very sad and scary. I read the Bible and prayed more than at any other time of my life. I found out that I could be extremely sad for weeks and months at a time, but that God was still with me, and I could still function. God provided help and showed his love in so many ways, through so many people. I learned a lot from the counseling that we went to as well.

I am sad and scared every day when I think of the apparent lack of faith in my sons. I’m also worried about my friends’ children who are not staying with their faith. I have to keep returning to God’s words and promises. I love talking with young people who are sticking with the faith. That also gives me hope.

It was difficult to decide resign my call as a teacher at Emmanuel. I grew through the Bible study and conversations with family that I had then, and I’ve grown a lot through all the experiences I’ve had building my business. I leaned on what I learned in Zambia about God always providing for me and loving me no matter how I choose to serve him.
