#1 Gift, Administration (84%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy organizing and effectively leading people to a task or common goal. Most of success in Sports ministry comes from effective administrative skills in being prepared for your leagues and season.

#2 Gift, Evangelism (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I see this as more of my relational approach to life. Most of the success or ability to share Christ with others has come from a natural approach to living my life in a way that acknowledges who I am in Christ and what that means to me. Walking the walk is just as important as talking the talk.

#3 Gift, Pastoring/Shepherding (59%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
This goes along with the evangelism strength above. I love to walk alongside and with people get to know them. It is more than just knowing about someone, it is a deep understanding of who they are. That comes from not just knowing them in ministry, but outside of the church. I have discipled college students, young adults. I love to walk alongside children and their families and invest in who they are as well. This comes natural to me and is something I genuinely enjoy.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Seeing others enjoying themselves in something that has been planned well and executed effectively. This can be a league, camp, special event or activity or a church wide promotion.

2. Working with a team to accomplish a goal. I love a team getting together and being excited about something and then going out and getting it done and seeing God work through that. My sports background gives me this. I love being on a team that is excited and on the same page.

3. Spending time with family, friends and others talking, eating, and being in genuine fellowship with others. This can also be celebrating an end of season, a time of ministry or just with a group of friends and others.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I love to work with young families to invest in their interests and not just their kids. Most of what we do in sports ministry is working with parents and not just their children. I am comfortable with most age groups, but really the 18-44 year old is where my sweet spot is. I am a people person and am very comfortable in groups and am flexible with who I can work with.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was 8 years old. My Dad came to know Jesus through a Church softball team. After seeing my dad get baptized, it made Christ very real to me. We had been attending Church and once I saw this, it wasn’t too much later that i meet with the Pastor and gave my life to Christ.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Northeast Christian Church, Louisville, KY. Recreation Ministry Associate. Summer of 2003 and 2004.

First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie Texas. Family Life Center Ministry Assistant. August 2006-July 2008.

Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. Marietta, GA. Recreation Associate. August 2008-May 2010.
Campbellsville Baptist Church, Campbellsville, KY. Activities Pastor. June 2010-May 2018.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Working with Northeast Christian in the summers of 2003 and 2004 confirmed my calling to full time Sports Ministry and the impact that can have for Christ.

Going to seminary and also learning what it means to live and function on my own away from home or family. I was also married in that time and growing together with my wife apart from being at home while also getting a Master’s Degree and working shaped the man I am today and the work ethic that comes with that.

Working at Johnson Ferry Baptist church and understanding how to truly run a Sports ministry well and do it in a way that’s effective in both sports and ministry results. I would also add becoming a Father and raising kids along with my wife is the most rewarding thing someone can do!

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Leaving the church for a season after the ministry my family was involved in was removed from the church. While I was away from church involvement in middle school, when I came back, my faith became my own and allowed me to truly understand what it means to have a relationship with Jesus.

When I had soldier surgery in college and my athletic career was never what I thought it was going to be. It taught me to handle adversity and stick with something even if it wasn’t what you thought it would be. I stayed on the team and forged great friendships and be part of some great experiences.

I recently lost my job at my church. I don’t know how this is going to shape me yet, but I am looking at it as an opportunity to show my kids how to handle adversity and what God can do when you rely on Him in any circumstance. I can already see God’s hand in our family through this and that if we lean on Him, we will land exactly where He wants us to.
