S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Jac Vanderbaan for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy being organized, looking after details, and making things run smoothly and efficiently. This allows our overall ministry to be more effective.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have been able to have employment that pays me well, and allows me to share generously with the church, various ministries, and local charities.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I feel comfortable spending some of my social time with non-Christians, and challenging their preconceived notions of science, Christianity, and religions in general. I want everyone I have a relationship with to understand that God loves them – unconditionally, and I do this by first loving them unconditionally.
[H]eart
1. Leading worship on Sunday mornings and in small groups.
2. Thinking through problems and challenges to find workable solutions that make the best use of available resources.
3. Learning about God’s creation and how it continues to show how awesome He is.
I relate best to people of similar age, with post-secondary education, and often in professional roles / vocations.
I am concerned that the church has become too focused on declaring the truth and is neglecting the call to love all people as Christ does.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace
Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
[E]xperience
I was raised in a Christian home and attended church on a regular basis. I’ve always felt a close connection to God and formally accepted Christ when I was 14.
Currently serving as an Elder, Board Chair, Treasurer, small group leader, and worship leader at LIFE Church for approximately 15 years.
Served as an Elder at Good News Christian Reformed Church in London for 3 years.
Served as an Elder at Kelowna Christian Reformed Church in Kelowna, BC for 3 years.
Sharing my faith with and praying for a friend in BC who later became a Christian and a leader in men’s ministry in his church.
Joining a faith-based group on campus at the University of Waterloo, and meeting others who were like me – believers and very curious about science and technology.
Being selected for a leadership role at the church in Kelowna. Prior to this, I had never considered serving as a leader.
When I was 16, my father was excommunicated from our church since he no longer attended and no longer believed. I felt that this “tough love” approach was the opposite of what Christ would have done, and I have since been very patient with and in prayer for those who are close to me but are not walking with Christ.
A small group of leaders at a church I was involved with launched a smear campaign against the pastor, who was eventually asked to step down and is no longer in pastoral ministry. I now insist on frequent and transparent communication with Pastors and church leaders regarding any concerns about their performance, and seek to build them up and promote unity within the membership.
I have watched both my daughters suffer from various forms of mental illness, and I have seen how difficult it can be for them to cope with challenges that I never had to deal with, or that I never had any difficulty with.
Wrapping It Up
The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?
1. My Relationship with GOD
2. My Relationship with Others
- Putting Your Spouse First
- Your Kids Second
- Everyone Else After those
3. Be part of a church known in the community for its acts of love.
4. To see every member actively involved in church ministry and fellowship.
5. Further develop my music abilities including song writing, to help people draw closer to God during worship services and throughout the week.
