S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Julie Scott for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Pastoring/Shepherding (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have a heart for people and I can fully relate with being a “sheep dog.” In terms of shepherding, for me it’s more a matter of making sure we all stick together, so I try to round everybody up and bring up the rear, so to speak.

#2 Gift, Teaching (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I guess this comes from years of teaching Sunday school. Right now I enjoy my role in Evan’s class in terms of being his helper in sometimes translating or clarifying scripture and how it relates to life today.

#3 Gift, Evangelism (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
This was actually a tie with Mercy Showing and Serving. Out of those three, I would say that Serving is probably gonna win out, mostly because even though I find ways to talk about Jesus, I am not as bold about it as I should be. Gonna work on that. I guess that’s where the book comes in. It’s so much easier to evangelize from behind a keyboard. 🙂

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I came in through the back door and began to get involved at Eden shortly thereafter, becoming part of the Christian Ed Board, then leading it, then becoming the Christian Ed Coordinator / Director of Spiritual Growth. I suppose this is why I lurk at the back of the Sanctuary at times – I like to let late-comers know that they are welcome.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Praise Team – Flute
(12 years?)

Director of Spiritual Growth – managed volunteers and all things related to the Biblical education of our congregation (9 years)

Taught Sunday School and ran VBS for at least 10 years.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Writing The Question.

Coming to the realization that God has shaped everything I have become over the last 30-some odd years.

Being able to discern God’s leadings in my life.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Getting fired.

Learning my mother is an alcoholic.

Being stuck in a stressful job.
