S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Kathy Jones for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Love helping with vacation bible school, watching the kids out the craft together with the lessons they are learning that day, you can see they “get it”

2. Like helping with the little ones in the nursery, love watching them progress into the next area

3. Love having my grandsons every week, o n Tuesdays, it’s nice to see them grow, not everyone has the chance to see theirs that often

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Like working with a lot of ages, young or older, depends on the circumstances

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Great to see and hear about all the outreach we are doing, like helping when I can, but because of my shifts at work it’s not always possible

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Years ago when I was in high school, got away from church for a time. After my divorce and a marriage not based on Christian beliefs I had the opportunity to come to this church about 2000, soon after became a member, Baptized in 2008

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Choir

Went on work and witness trip to Panama

Helping in nursery and with bible school

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Watching my daughter grow up in a local church and getting baptized there

Watching my great grandma hear a church song, then sit down and play it by ear, she loved playing piano

Be able to see my mom go back to church, after dad passed, but before she got ill

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

When I worked at a nursing home, I saw a lot of elderly people dumped off by family and never have company, felt sad but wanted to be a friend for them too, they needed someone

Going through my divorce, the circumstances were bad for my daughter and myself, greatfull to get out, have co-workers who cared and helped us as well as family

My dad got lung cancer 2004, died six weeks later, my mom got lung cancer a year and a half later, died within 7 weeks, mom died on my daughter’s 18th birthday, but both of us had a lot of peace about knowing where they now reside!!
