I grew up loving to help people with whatever task they needed of me. I don’t really like being the center of attention, but I like to do things behind-the-scenes that make a difference to people.

Throughout my time in Cru I was trained in different evangelism methods. I did a lot of initiative evangelism and met with girls to share the gospel with them.

1. I love to hike and be out in nature! It is amazing to see God’s creation and the exercise makes me feel great!

2. I also love to help people. I don’t really care what we’re doing, but I just like to help.

3. I love to spend time with my family and close friends. I especially like when I am able to talk to them about deep things and get to know them more.

I like to work with older high school students and college students mostly. This is probably because I have the most experience with this age group. I also love where they are in life. They are figuring out who they are and making some big life decisions.

I grew up going to church and came to a point where I knew I was a sinner and Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I knew I needed to respond to Christ’s gift by asking Him into my life to be my Savior and Lord. Since then, I’ve grown to learn what it looks like to walk with the Lord and believe the Gospel each day.

Growing up, my older cousin chose to spend a lot of time with me. She was always someone, besides my parents, that I could talk to and depend on. She was always a constant and I would say the time spent with her made a big impact on me. Even today she’s still one of my go-to people when I need advice, a favor, or just to chat.

In college, I was involved in Cru. For the first time in my life, I was being discipled, challenged to evangelism, and experiencing true community. I learned and grew so much in this time.

This may seem silly, but as I was getting everything together for my wedding, I began to think about my wedding dress. The dress shop I was going to called to confirm my appointment for the next day and I asked what the starting/average prices for their dresses were. They told me and I was caught off guard. I had saved money for my wedding and knew dresses could be expensive, but this was more than I had planned for. A few minutes later my dad called me. We talked for a couple minutes, then he said he wanted to pay for my dress. I was thankful, but I asked if he was sure and if he knew how much they cost. He said the exact range the people from the dress shop said and affirmed that he wanted to do this. I know this may seem like a silly example, but I felt God’s provision through that experience. God is so good to care for us and provide in huge ways, but also in small ways like a wedding dress.

When I was born, my parents were not married and they split up soon after I was born. They have always been civil and even dated off and on some when I was a kid. Because of the separation, my time was split between the two of them. I lived with my mom most of the time, but went to my dad’s every other weekend and six weeks out of the summer.

When I was in high school, I dated a couple of different guys who struggled with mental health. They both needed help, but I didn’t know what to do. They would threaten suicide and one of them would self-harm. I told his mom and it just never got better until a teacher found out. I was so ashamed that I hadn’t told anyone, but he made me feel like I couldn’t. Other people in my family have also struggled with mental health.

The summer after my second year of college, I went on a 10-week summer mission in San Diego. While I was there, my mom and my aunt got into this huge fight over some pretty serious stuff. My aunt cared for me a lot when I was younger and my mom had to work. We were all really close, but after I came home things were never the same. It’s still really hard because we used to do everything together, even vacations, but now they don’t see each other or talk to each other.
