This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I believe even though I have struggled financially so much in my life, God has given me much and divine favour. I know first-hand what it is to be in want or debt (still am), but I have a heart and have always sought to help people financially not from excess (which I don’t have) but from my own place of need. For me that’s the best type of giving, but if God also choses to give me excess I will expand that ministry even more!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have struggled and continue to struggle with ill-health of all sorts and I know first hand how debilitating it can be to the quality of your life, serving in Church and on the job. So right away, my heart is already softened by my own life experiences, which can sometimes be very lonely or people don’t know how to relate/minster to me, so then I must come along side others and comfort them with the comfort that the Holy Spirit have given to me. I am not a selfish person by nature and I believe that empathy is one of my God-given gifts, so I may not do this on a large scale (yet), but I do it one-on-one. I don’t even need to know you, you don’t need to be my friend, but I will always try to reach out and touch someone’s life for better. In fact, one of my major life goals is to make my life bless everyone that I come in contact with – when I am not actively doing that for whatever reason (limited now due to constant ill-health), I feel miserable and unfulfilled.

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
How can I not show mercy and forgiveness? God have forgiven me much, he has saved me from myself so many times. He has extended much grace when I probably should have been punished, but instead He gives me grace and mercy. Now don’t get me wrong, I have always had a mean streak that wants to get revenge but as a young Christian teenager, I read Spirit-Controlled Temperament (by Tim LaHaye) and that changed my life for the better up to this day. So I may tell God in prayer how I really feel, but I humbly submit to His will and way in showing mercy. Furthermore, I think not giving people what they really deserve is a powerful testimony all in itself!!!

[H]eart

1. Taking care of my children and seeing to their spiritual, emotional, financial wellbeing and helping as much as I can with their futures

2. Special singing ministry brings me great joy and fulfilment even though it is something I have always struggled with fear & anxiety but knowing that is what I am called to do, I do it scared anyway

3. Ministering/Encouraging persons in difficult relationships especially abusive ones and it would be MY GREATEST JOY to be well enough to minister to the Christian mental health community

Persons from the mental health community and especially those who are born-again Christians as insufficient resources are available to them and also because “the Church & Church Leaders” generally do not actively recognize that mental ill-health affects one’s spiritual growth/service and seem to “prescribe” the same “cookie-cutter” approach that they do for everyone else, when they are NOT like everyone else. These “prescriptions” & expectations are so far from their realities which makes some end up feeling inadequate, not enough and stagnant (according to man’s standards); when in fact they struggle just to get through almost each and every day to take care of themselves, their families, their jobs and their walk with Christ and Christian service.

Additionally, working with families to strengthen their relationships with themselves and other especially their families (first mission field) to be healthy thriving Christian families to affect and impact our communities and world (expounded below)

Singing ministry. I have a very deep passion to be able to minister/educate to people with mental health issues, dealing with abuse of any kind and helping families thrive (even before families are officially formed). Marriage & Family are God’s idea, which means that they are more than workable, however we spend many years in school, colleague etc. training for a careers & jobs – when, how and how much time do we put into learning to be a whole (more whole, less broken) people, husbands, wives, fathers and mothers – some of the most important roles/jobs we will ever perform? Most learn ‘on-the-job” and end up raising broken children that need to recover from their childhood as adults. Let’s not forget the spouse roles and the damage we can inflict on each other – some barely escaping with their lives & the scares, while others don’t even make it out alive.

I grew up in Church, but at a certain point I recognized that there was more than just going to church. So at the age of 9 years I felt deeply convicted to surrender my life to Christ and so I prayed & meant with all my heart a prayer of repentance and became born-again. I then asked my parent

Transformed Life Church – member of the worship team from 2013 to 2021 when I officially went on sabbatical. I have also been inactive prior in singing for a couple of years due primarily to ill-health

As a young Christian (both in maturity & age), the attribute of God that I experienced and tapped into most was Him as Counsellor. This special connection greatly affected my life for better in terms of how I related to the Trinity and seeking His counsel on how to navigate most of my Christian journey.

I am instinctively shy & would prefer to remain in the background; so to stand in front of people to sing has ALWAYS been very difficult for me (not only in church ministry as described above but also a lead & member of the UCCF at UTECH – formerly CAST). I have a rich spiritual heritage of Pastors, Evangelists and Ministers of all sorts including singing and I always felt that one of my cousins in particular should do all the singing at my church origin. So whenever I was chosen to do a lead which started at a very tender age, I always relied on her to support me physically (like holding my hand) and always told her to learn the leads just in case I freeze and cant do it. When I married and went to EBC, my personal singing ministry blossomed and I had to learn to lean only on God and so I have come to really experience first hand that I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me. I have even had several experiences of having bad asthma attacks before singing and was sure that I couldn’t manage to sing, yet God came through again & again. The fears I have experienced are deep rooted and have even been full-blown anxiety, but I keep at it not only because I KNOW that I am anointed to sing (purpose) but also because every time God comes through and I am humbled knowing that He did it again. I have also learnt that its more about anointing than confidence or one’s ability. I step up to minister scared; then I am just lost in the power & anointing of Christ singing as His vessel, but forever and always TO AN AUDIENCE OF ONE!

I am sure there is more, but right now my memory fails me – okay this just came to mind which is fairly recent. Five years ago my dad died. I had to write & present a tribute on behalf of his children and grandchildren talking about our experiences with daddy/grandpa. When I wrote about his conversion (later in life, especially considering his rich Christian heritage – he was like the black sheep of his family), I wrote about how his mother, Mama Ella died without receiving/seeing the promise of her desire to see him saved – yet how many years later, my dad surrendered his life to Jesus, the very last of his siblings, even though he was the youngest. For some reason that I am unsure of to this day, whilst the heroes of faith who by faith did great exploits, I have always had a special affinity to those “all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not [their} promise” In writing the tribute, I was able to realize and connect the dots that that was true of my grandmother praying for my father’s salvation. It truly changed my perspective on the lasting echoing of fervent prayer and strengthened my understanding that faith is not believing God just for an outcome, but just believing Him because we may not “see” what we have prayed for, but we must continue to pray and believe in things not seen.

PS – Just recounting this has encouraged me again especially as I pray for my healing without seeing any results – I have been very disillusioned & discouraged in recent times.

Living in an abusive marriage and having my marriage fall apart – I NEVER thought that that would be a part of my story – hence my desire to help families thrive and also because God instituted family & marriage so it is more than workable

Being diagnosed with mental health illness on account of the abuse in my marriage to which I still struggle with today and am still on prescribed meds – have given me a deep desire to work with the mentally ill especially in the Christian community.

I had two miscarriages a year apart between having my two beautiful daughters – Terri-Ann & Kayla-Marie. The second one was particularly difficult on me, especially I as trusted Go whole-heartedly to have raised that baby from the dead when the doctor told me the child had died. Arising from that experience I learnt to understand and accept the sovereignty of God despite how much I may be trusting Him for a different outcome. Also led me to one of my life verses – Psa. 119:71 – It was good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes
