S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Kim Boynton for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have been helpful my entire life. I take pleasure in knowing that I am making someone’s life easier or better and it’s a way I feel comfortable serving God.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Surprising to me. Would never consider myself a good teacher.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am a generous person, though I can probably do more. I am trying to get my financial life in order so that I’m doing what God wants me to with the resources he has me managing. The “Balanced” series at Restore was so helpful in this area.
[H]eart
1. Learning the Bible and how God wants me to live my life. Restore sermons and Rooted have been so helpful in this area. I am trying to figure out what I am passionate about and what I really enjoy. Until recently, all I really did was work and hang out with my friends.
2. Hiking and spending time in nature – lake, ocean, mountains.
3. Helping others. It used to be just my family and friends, but now I have all kinds of opportunities through Restore. I love setting up, tearing down and counting at Restore. I want to do even more. I loved the meal-packing event for Haiti and I like the Sanger center opportunities. I want to find more behind-the-scenes kinds of things I can do to help further God’s kingdom.
I guess adults – people who are hard-working and fun and who want to make a difference.
I am concerned that Restore is not growing fast enough. I want us to be able to stand on our own two feet when the seed money is done. I also want us to be more of a family – there is a pretty strong core group, which is awesome, but how do we bring more people into that. Opportunities to serve together and to study the Bible together have been key in getting us to come to know and love one-another more. Maybe more get-together opps like game nights or serve events that have more group activity – like the Haiti meal packing or maybe cleaning up messes or fixing up houses or something like that. I don’t really know what to do, just that I want to develop deeper relationships with my church family and it’s been so exciting getting to do that. But I don’t think it would have happened if I hadn’t started serving.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace
Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.
Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
[E]xperience
I grew up in a Christian home, but had it forced on me too much. When I was on my own, walked away from Church. A few years ago, I was looking for meaning in my life and came across Joel Osteen on Sirius XM. He was exactly what I needed, brought me back to God. Insists that you get involved in a Bible-based church. I then received a post card from Restore (and another church). Restore seemed aligned with my vision, I stalked them on Vimeo for a while and finally got up the nerve to attend. I’ve been there ever since and I’m still searching for my purpose and role in God’s plan, but my life has finally started to have meaning.
I have great Christian role models in Alan & Ethel Rich. They are my second parents and have taught me what it looks like to be kind, loving, accepting, generous, thoughtful, helpful, and to serve. They are also an amazing role model for a Christian marriage, should God ever decide to bring me a husband!
My stepmother was a great role model for a strong, independent, resourceful woman and what it looks like to have a strong work ethic. Also, she loved me like I was her own, when she didn’t have to, and she made a lot of sacrifices so that I may have a good life.
I had a best friend who was kind, generous, thoughtful, she always remembered when I had a big meeting or doctor’s appointment or anything going on in my life and would always ask how things were going. She brought me into her family (Mom & Dad Rich noted above) and helped me to see what true friendships look like.
Had a mother who didn’t work – expected God to provide and lived off of welfare and the church after my parents got divorced. We were on food stamps and I swore I would never be dependent on someone else. Made me work hard.
I had a mountain of debt when I graduated school and I worked my butt off – two jobs for many, many years, to get rid of it. Now I am adamant about paying off my credit cards every month and I do not spend money I don’t have. I think that’s way I love paying bills and balancing my check book – because I am able to pay them all, I don’t have to pick and choose which ones will get paid this month.
Wrapping It Up
The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?
1. My Relationship with GOD
2. My Relationship with Others
- Putting Your Spouse First
- Your Kids Second
- Everyone Else After those
3. I would buy up all the houses in poor, hopeless neighborhoods, fix them up and sell them to low-income families through low-interest loans funded by investors.
4. I would build homes for homeless children where they would be loved, taught life skills, they would learn about God, they would serve the community, we would help them find jobs and they would grow up to be confident, secure, contributing members of society.
5. I would provide a safe, secure, beautiful home for women and children who need someplace to go. We would help the women with food, clothing, and shelter, but also with counseling and job skills and education and whatever they needed to get them on their feet and able to make it on their own.
