Thank you Kim Whinery for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Giving (84%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I’m surprised this is the highest, but I do enjoy giving. Brandon and I talk often about how we hope we can be very generous in our future. My parents really taught us to do this and it’s always been a strong commitment for me. However I see a lot of ways I lack in this area so am surprised it came out as my highest.

#2 Gift, Pastoring/Shepherding (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I view this as my calling with Spiritual formation, which is why I pursued education in it. I looove bringing others along in their faith journey, and helping them see God in their life.

#3 Gift, Teaching (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I really enjoy teaching, writing, whatever it is that brings Scripture to people and allows them to engage with Jesus. I don’t like when there is teaching with no take away or personal action so I’m very passionate about making it practical.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Be a wife and mom/stepmom to my awesome crew. I want to love them well and pour into them. I want to see the kids find their relationship with the Lord and walk that out.

2. I love working with people. I do that through human resources, and in my hobbies. I want to be an uplifter of others, especially in their faith, continually pointing them to God. I like writing and speaking about God’s word. I really love seeing people healed of wounds and restored to God.

3. I love being creative. Currently I’m enjoying expressing my creativity through these wreaths I’m making as a hobby. Someone once felt they heard a word for me from the Lord that my creativity comes out in the realms of healing. That has stuck with me as I believe I’ve seen God guide me in that, but that there is more to come.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I prefer young adults / adults.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Discipleship, spiritual formation for others as they seek God. Also blended family ministry is close to my heart.

*Mark the Top 3 from the list, that Trigger a Passion in You

Marriage/family issues
Financial stewardship
Other – Blended families/the need for stepmom ministries

[A]bilities

My current vocation:

Human Resources

Other jobs I have experience in:

Administrative, serving customers, nannying, teaching English as a foreign language

Special talents/skills that I have:

I would say spiritual formation, as I’m a trained Spiritual Director.

I have taught a class or seminar on:

Stations of the cross, finding vocation/calling, leadership, Nehemiah and other passages from Scripture, prayer, listening to God, etc.

I feel my most valuable personal asset is:

Our home. It’s the center for our family and I hope a refuge for them. I love to cook and bake and make holidays special.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in the faith but became a Christian through cubbies.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Colorado: formation, mentoring, children’s ministry, teaching

Montana: youth ministry, children’s ministry, mentoring, Christian pregnancy center

China: missions, teaching

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

My experiences at our camp growing up and then later as staff were very formative in establishing my relationship with the Lord.

My time in China and at Seminary really showed me who God is and what He has for my life. Those years were very healing for me as I drew close to the Lord.

Learning to be a mom and stepmom has taught me the most of all.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

I’ve been involved in ministries like those who are pregnant, or experienced some kind of sexual abuse and have a heart for that.

Always striving for perfectionism caused some deep wounds in my life so I like to show others that they can live out who God says they are instead.

Being a mom/ stepmom is also challenging. I especially would like to encourage others learning to be a stepmom and walking through hard things that come up.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Start a Spiritual formation ministry, write, speak, and provide soul friendship or spiritual direction to others.

4. I would encourage stepmoms by writing devotionals for them.

5. I would stay home with our kids.
