This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
While I have had a heart for the wrongfully-convicted and those with special needs, it was not until I suffered my own accident that I have developed a deeper compassion and understanding of how deep despair can reach and the need for friends to stand by and hold the flashlight in the darkness.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love to work on building my farm and to communicate with people about it. I love the idea that I can contribute to my community by the products of my own hands.

2. I love to read and think and communicate my passions through writing.

3. I love to be creative and create new things by working in my shop.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I work best with adults or at least college age and above. I like to work most with people who have an openness because of something in their life.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was 21 years old and had recently ended a relationship. I had previously been agnostic. I read the Bible on my own and decided it was the truth so I called a preacher I had once come into contact with and asked him to baptize me. Then I immediately wanted to become a preacher.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Tahoka church of Christ (Tahoka TX), young minister, 2 years

Preaching at various churches throughout Texas and New Mexico, 5 years

Collin County church of Christ, teacher-1 year; Parkway Drive church of Christ (Lubbock), teacher and preached occasionally – 3 years

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Becoming a Father

Working with Exonerees, the wrongfully-convicted

Preaching at a church in Cuero, Texas, where there was a good response and the church’s regular minister was very supportive of me

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

suffering a brain injury and losing my job, house, reputation, and abilities

my parents divorce

my mother’s struggle with cancer, her in ability to find affordable treatment and safety net for her in a bad time, and ultimately her death from cancer
