Thank you Kiersten Walker for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Evangelism (87%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love to share my experiences with others and I’m a great communicator. I listen to those whose opinions differ from mine and try to understand where they’re coming from & also respect their right to disagree or disbelieve. Because of that, people are open to sharing their feelings with me and I actually listen to what I have to say. I’m also not embarassed or apprehensive about sharing my testimony. I have often posted on FB about trials I’ve encountered, stupid decisions I’ve made, tough choices I’ve had to deal with and how the Lord has always brought me through. I’m real, I’m transparent and people are drawn to that.

#2 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (78%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
There’s just too much negativity in our world. I take every chance I get to encourage and lift up others, because I love people. It’s also how I’d want to be treated. Women need to uplift each other more often and I make it my business to do so and to encourage others to follow suit. People respond far more favorably to positive reinforcement!

#3 Gift, Mercy Showing (78%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I’m compassionate. My heart hurts when I see people suffer and I try my best to help them through.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up attending church, learning about the Lord and using my talents to serve. My mother was very vocal in her faith and led my sister and I on the path we’re currently walking. I was baptized when I was 11. The pastor came to my home and chatted with me about the decision to confirm that I understood it and was ready. Quick testimony: My father only attended church when my sister or I were singing. Being an intellectual, he had issues with accepting religion, specifically things that weren’t tangible or could be “proven”. This greatly influenced my desire to have a husband that attended church. My mother never gave up. She continued to prod him, share her faith and lift up God to my father. He gave his life to Christ a few years ago and was baptized!!

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Shiloh Baptist Church. Alexandria, VA. 8 years. I was in women’s day choir, mass choir, young adult choir. I worked the nursery 1/month. I revitalized the young adult ministry alongside a co-founder.

Macedonia Baptist Church. Pittsburgh, PA. 6 years. As a youth, I was involved in the youth choir and youth ministry.

Worth the Wait. Washington DC. Roughly 2 years.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Growing up with my parents/sister/gramma. A lot of people think the Cosby show was unrealistic, but it was an accurate depiction of my family. My parents encouraged us, surrounded us with a positive community, played games with us, instilled good morals/values in us, gave us opportunities, taught us how to make our own way, etc. My upbringing has made me who I am today.

Soccer. I’ve been playing my entire life. It’s kept me physically fit, but playing a team sport taught me about unity, support, teamwork, effort, sportsmanship, etc. Growing up, my family traveled around the country for my soccer tournaments and that brought us closer. I also got to see other parts of the US and having the opportunity to get out of your own neighorhood, city, state, environment is not to be taken for granted.

Full ride to Penn State. I was blessed to have a head start financially, in that I haven’t had to pay for any of my degrees or certifications. Graduating debt-free is something that I took for granted, because I didn’t truly understand the value, at the time. But as an adult, I see how it set me up to do many things, and put me in a position to help others, a privilege I don’t take lightly.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Both of my parents are in poor health. Seeing my mother act as a caregiver for both my father and grandmother, was impactful. I saw her spirit of service and sacrifice. When she became ill herself, I saw how nothing changed. She still put others first, neglecting her own physical wellbeing. My sister and I are know serving as caregivers for our parents and it’s hard, depressing, humbling, enlightening…life changing.

I broke off my engagement and left my fiance’. He wasn’t the best that God had for me and I couldn’t ignore God tugging at my heart any longer. I had to walk away and trust that God would repair the brokeness I experienced and that He had someone far better for me. I shared my story publicly in effort to help others that may have been in my situation. Trust God!

Miscarriages. My best friend has suffered two and is still trying to get pregnant. She and her husband are celebrating 5 years of marriage. Seeing someone desire to be a mother and not (yet) be succesful, is heartbreaking. It’s frustrating and it’s easy to get angry at people who unintentionally and irresponsibly get pregnant and have the opportunity to bring forth life, something she’s been trying to do. But that’s life. Oftentimes other people will be granted the very things we desire, but that doesn’t mean God is not good. We just need to trust the plan!
