S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Shanteal Lake for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Evangelism (93%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am talkative by nature. I enjoy sharing and learning more about other people (experiences, struggles, commonalities, etc.) I truly believe that there is strength in numbers and that a large part of bringing people to Christ and helping them stay connected is making sure they are heard, understood and supported.

#2 Gift, Prophecy (87%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
When I am still enough, God tells me what to say and I say it. I have been able to feel oncoming death or blessings in the lives of the people (varying in closeness/relationship) around me. I have had telling dreams/visions. I have experienced conversations where I knew that the words coming out of my mouth were not mine but God’s.

#3 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (81%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
When I am able to pour into the lives of others through acts of service/kindness or words of affirmation my entire being is filled. I love knowing that I helped someone get through a rough day or reminding them of a time when they overcame adversity once before when they are facing a new struggle. I like for the people I meet, know, and hope to form relationships with to know that I value them and that I am willing to help whenever I can.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Talking to people; making people laugh

2. Helping others; often by giving them what they need in that moment or providing guidance/assistance so they do not have to endure heartache or difficulty

3. I also really like learning new things, crafts, shopping and coloring 🙂

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I love to work with the people who I can help the most. I like to be involved where I can be most effective. I really like to work with young girls of varying ages and millennials. I have always gravitated towards middle to high school age young ladies. I like to work with people who struggle with insecurities or do not feel worthy of God’s grace and mercy. I like to be the “hug” to the people who need it most.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I would really like to work as an usher/greeter. I think being a friendly face is so important to establishing and fostering a happy church community. I know how difficult it is to get people seated and welcome (sometimes less than pleasant) brothers and sisters to service but I think that being kind and having a serving spirit is paramount in that role and I would be really good at it.

I am super passionate about millennials and young adults. I believe that we are not a lost generation but a generation constantly in quest for what’s next; but because we are inundated with so many options and opinions it is hard for us to find and follow direction.

Mental health is an issue that is so prevalent in the church and world. It has to be discussed from a biblical and practical perspective.

Also passionate about the church’s involvement in the civil rights movement of today and education policy/ access in the African American community

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I have been in church my entire life. I remember giving my life to Christ very young but having a real understanding of what that meant around age 12. I was baptized around age 13.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

As an adolescent I sang in the choir (Augusta Deliverance Pentecostal Church and Faith Baptist Christian Church) in Augusta, Georgia for approximately 5 years total. I have also been a part of church productions/plays and served in children’s church.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Participating as a student, volunteer, counselor, and residence director with Paine College Upward Bound.

Attending/graduating from Spelman College. Serving as a residential advisor and Student Government President

Moving to D.C. Getting involved with Zion and Milli Connect

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Dealing with mental health issues (personally and with family)

Attending/graduating from Spelman College.

Not being employed for 6 months after graduating with my Masters

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. I would have a talk show geared towards Christian Millennials

4. Share stories and resources (write a book, host a podcast) for those dealing with mental health issues/addiction or have family members who struggle in those areas

5. I would visit schools that struggle to serve the nation’s most underserved youth and in addition to directing the media’s attention to their needs (possibly make a documentary), I would also create custom plans for their improvement and chart their success. Essentially, acting as a “school whisperer”.
