S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Levi Holstine for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
This one actually caught me by surprise, and the analytical part of me is wondering if I overanalyzed or mis-did the questions (skewing the scale on often-rarely or being to generous with myself or something). However, I do believe I’m able to befriend and communicate with unbelievers and those hostile to Christ and the Church. Just by nature of who I grew up around, many of my oldest friends are not believers and many of those who were have drifted or outright turned away. Despite that, I’m able to maintain relationships with them and even have casual and hard conversations about matters of faith and God. Today I work in an extremely diverse school and find the lessons and conversations constantly steering to questions that I ultimately only have answers for in Christ, and I communicate those as best as I can while not getting fired. Why I started this comment off with a caveat, though, is I don’t have any evidence that I have any efficacy as an evangelist; I can’t point to anyone that I can confirm I led to Christ or had a direct effect in their being saved.

This one feels more accurate. I’m a teacher as a profession, and for many of the reasons I think this gift fits. I’ve always been able to quickly (sometimes relatively) understand complex concepts and issues and been able to explain and interpret them for others. I’ve been affirmed by others in my life that I’m able to do this with Scripture as well, and I enjoy few things as much as having conversations with believers and unbelievers about God and the Bible.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
While teaching is my day job, this is my side hustle. Serving was fundamental in my family, and especially regarding serving in our home church. My parents led by example serving in nearly every ministry area throughout my childhood and bringing me and my siblings into service with them. Since then I’ve always had a heart for serving and happily help in any manner I’m able.
[H]eart
1. I love helping people, especially children, understand new things by explaining them and breaking them down into something that can enrich them.
2. I’m not sure if this is totally off-track, but it does just say things I love and find fulfilling, so writing. I love writing stories to entertain and challenge/enrich, poetry to express and inspire, and anything that suits to explain.
3. I love to help others. I genuinely enjoy being a go-to for assistance and trouble-shooting, and I constantly find myself in that position in different environments.
I’m in my element working with young people, especially late elementary through early high school. I love the awkward middle years, and I think there’s a lot of work to done among the hurt that so many associate with these ages.
Right teaching of Scripture, service to the congregation and the community, the mundane needs of hosting church services for the Gospel to be preached. I find this question hard to answer because I think I’m the type to become concerned about anything others are concerned about and try to fix it.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
[E]xperience
I was raised in a church-going family and have the somewhat boring story of praying the prayer in a Sunday school class. Really I can’t remember a time before God and knowing who Jesus was, and the prayer felt like a formality and ritual to make it official.
Highlands Community Church in Renton, WA. I currently serve for the past 2 years as a facility lead setting up our mobile campus and assisting at other functions.
I served in numerous ministries such as children’s, nursery, and tech while growing up at Calvary Chapel SE Portland in Oregon, through the early 2000’s
Growing up in a church environment and in a family that was there frequently throughout the week, and thus being immersed in a culture that leaned on the Bible constantly.
Attending an arts-focused charter school in high school contributed heavily to my values and worldview, and the relationships I formed among many people far from my church community has been invaluable.
Going on multiple service trips in high school with my youth group and serving in needy communities.
I transitioned from home school to public school in 5th grade and then moved schools in 7th grade and never really transitioned very well. I was awkward and felt like I was from a different world, and that was reinforced when I was faced with typical middle school and high school rejection from peers.
In my second year of teaching, I manifested anxiety symptoms of daily nausea and vomiting, leading to a year of hospital visits and tests that ultimately ruled it was all in my head and sought counseling. I gained some management of my symptoms, but still have to be careful in certain situations or at high-stress times to not become physically ill. This gives me compassion and patience for those with physical and mental ailments.
When I was young, 5-7 I think, my dad hurt his back through extended work stress and ended up with 2 surgeries and no ability to do physical work consistently. This flipped our family completely around as he had been the breadwinner and doing pretty well at it, and my mom was staying at home with 5 boys and homeschooling them. Dad rotated through a number of jobs for the remainder of my childhood, but would always eventually have to leave due to his back or the job falling through. Mom went back to work and we all went into public school. Soon after we lost the house we had bought a few years prior and found ourselves on the free lunch list at school. We never got completely back to where we were financially, and most of my life I’d feel comfortable labeling us as poor though we were blessed to always be fed, housed, and clothed. I understand and care about the poor and homeless in our communities.
