Thank you Larry E. Fouts for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. [H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love to see others succeeding in following Christ. I don’t like the limelight, but enjoy seeing others praising and worshiping God.

2. Reading and memorizing scripture (even though my memory is horrible) brings me joy.

3. Singing praise to God.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I love working with Children, although I’m no longer allowed to do so because of disability requirements. I also love working with older folks, which seems to now be my age-mates!

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I am most concerned with how many in the faith think they need to be God’s policemen, rather than loving the lost and being witnesses to what Christ has done for us. I’m also concerned with the direction worship music has gone. When the melody and words are so difficult for people to follow, it interferes with opening the heart to worshiping God.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in the Church of Christ (musical!). Yet, I didn’t come to know Christ as my personal savior until college. I was witnessed to at the OSU student union, and was saved at the OSU Bible Studies church on campus.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Ugandan Bible Study. I’ve lead the bible study in a rotational setting for many years, teaching a small group of Ugandan and Kenyan fellow Christians.

I’ve lead worship in small group settings for many years. This includes at the Ugandan Bible Study, and at the Vineyard. I’ve also done vocals in large church settings.

I used to teach children at the Vineyard before my retirement, but am no longer permitted to do so because of the requirements for my disability with STRS.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

I loved the excitement that came from being young and newly in love with Christ. God can renew the mind, and I pray for that excitement to fill my live once again.

Seeing how other Christians have overcome the world, whether drugs, sex or apathy.

God answering prayers regarding one of my children, who was addicted to heroin. She has been clean now for years, and has a loving family. God is faithful!

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

I went through a time in my life when I was heavily involved in drugs, and sex. I know how this world can wrap you up in layers of private hell. It is not a failing of personal strength, but rather the fallen nature we all share.

I’ve been judged, and sometimes judged myself, other Christians. I know now in my heart that God is the one who should do the judging. As my mom always said, if you point your finger at someone, you also point right back at yourself.

I have had a type of muscular dystrophy since I was 10. It is progressive. My mom was legally blind. My father was totally disabled at the age of 50. I have tremendous passion for those affected by a body that isn’t what we’d like.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. I would love to sponser children in Uganda…paying for school fees/uniforms, and helping their parents with sustainable income.

4. To lead in small group worship and see others joyfully sing their hearts out to God.

5. I would lead others to Christ and help instruct in God’s word.
