[E]xperience

I was at a crusade at the church I grew up in and responded to an altar call. When I got to the altar, I couldn’t stop crying, I had encountered God and I knew it. I made the decision to make Him my Lord and Saviour that night. I was 14 years old, but in order for me to take the next step of water baptism, I had to prove to my father that I was ready- I was very lippy (God is still working on me there). I got baptize the Good Friday morning following the crusade.

We had family devotions

I use to write letters for both my father and my grandfather. They said I had great penmanship and would dictate their letters and I would write it for them. I think this inspired the writer in me.

At 3 years old, I found a full pencil at school and was excited about carrying it home (those were the days of half-a -pencil). When my father came to pick me up from school, he checked my bag and asked me where I got it. I said I found it, to which he replied, did I give it to you? I said no, to which he replied take it back. I said, but the school is locked, to which he replied, throw it over the fence- which I did. Because of that experience, I can’t take anything that is not mine, to this day! I’m grateful for that experience.
