S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Martin Rechnitzer for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Similar to Teaching in being able to stay in His Word and have Him share truths and revelation of meaning through it and godly pastors/teachers I have listened to and read

#3 Gift, Administration (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Vocationally God has had me involved as sole practitioner attorney as well as Missionary (with my wife) with Aw3ana clubs International for 14 years — responsible for appx. 400 churhces, events, conferences, camps.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Be with my wife and family

2. Share with willing listeners the truth of God’s Word and His plan for them

3. Enjoy God’s creation

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Those who love God and want to experience His fullness/joy; any age, but culturally it has become more difficult for me to “love to work” with younger families/children (sad to say)

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Excite — service outside the church buildings and off the church grounds.
Concern — Being lukewarm and not different enough from the world; hard to do without coming across as being legalistic, but Jesus was able to do it

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Heard Gospel preached for first time when I was in my late 20’s — placed my faith in Jesus when I was 28, by myself in my bedroom

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Foothill Baptist Church, Sylmar, CA appx. 1985-88; Deacon, Awana leader, various

Camarillo Baptist Church, Camarillo, CA 1988-92 — Awana leader, Deacon various
1993-2007 Awana Clubs International –Missionary with wife Kay
1993-1995? Burleson Bible Church
Have been involved with Oak Grove Baptist Church for many years, member presently

Bible Study Fellowship since 2007; have been small group leader for 3+ years; presently co-leading a “satellite group” in Burleson

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Being in Bible believing, teaching churches and meeting other, stronger believers

Being in Awana ministry and knowing Art Rorheim (founder) — focus was on Bible memory and that helped my growth and challenged me. Art just recently died at age 99–always humble and pointed everyone to Jesus

A godly wife and family

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Not growing up in a Bible believing, teaching church

Not real close with parents until later in life — too much “on my own” with experiences and limited guidance

Struggles with sin

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Help lead people to Christ

4. Use vocational skills to help people smooth out some of the rough spots they deal with

5. Stay healthy and finish strong for the sake and glory of God
