S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Tina Marshall for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. [H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Serve my family. Bless them. Support them. Feed them. Celebrate them. Teach them.

2. Cooking and baking, especially in conjunction with parties.

3. Crafting – making cards, scrapbooking, painting, etc.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I love to work with people I know or can get to know. I relate best to adults and young children. Elementary and teens not so much. Except for those my teen daughters age, whom I can lift up and encourage.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Our lack of an online presence concerns me the most. Facebook needs to be constantly interacting with us. It is how most of us communicate and choose where to get involved. Websites must be up to date and usable. I truly believe it is how we search for a new church or a church to visit.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Grew up in small, rural, Methodist Church. Always acted like a Christian. Didn’t know relationship till came to Nazarene Church 20 years ago. The change from just believing in Christ to accepting Him into my heart allowed purpose and peace to come into my life. It gave me a deep joy and a reassurance.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

For the last 20 years, I have been at Gateway. I have served as a nursery worker, MS teen girls Sunday School leader, funeral dinners, SDMI, and much more.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

I spent a whole year in Sweden as a High School Junior as an exchange student.

I grew up on a small working farm (crops, but mostly livestock) in rural southern Iowa. I went to a small rural school (class of 20). I attended a small rural church where my family were the only ones under 60 in a congregation of 20-30.

I was blessed to have a happy family who really loved me growing up. I was surrounded by extended family. My grandmother was my best friend up till her death a few years ago. My mother has also been my best friend, but only the last 10 years or so of my life.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis when I was two years old. My body has always felt old.

My work for 5 years as a Child Protective Case Worker have greatly shaped my life and my attitude towards others. (I’m not sure it was a negative experience but it shed a light on a darker side of the world for me.)

Nothing has came easy in my life – finances, relationships, accolades, etc. I have had to learn the value of hard work. I have had to learn to have a positive self-image and self-confidence. I have had to learn to have grace and patience for a situation. I have a great compassion for those that are struggling but desire to do it well.

Wrapping It Up

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. learn to crochet and decorate cakes/cookies so I could continue to bless others

4. given the time/$ to complete our house renovation, I would LOVE to host people in our home for anything and everything (from foster care to parties to sharing dinner with neighbors and anyone in need)

5.
